Question 10, Test one...

All of the following are true except:

1. All plants exhibit alternation of generations
2.The diploid sporophyte generation produces haploid spores
3. The haploid spores develop into the diploid gametophyte generation
4.Spores are cells that prevent the loss of water
5.Meristems provide a source of cells that can develop into an adult plant

The answer is 3. I don't understand why that is incorrect. I thought 4 was incorrect...I thought it would be stoma.

i think 3 is wrong b/c a gametophyte is by definition, haploid, not diploid.

Thanks I guess I've been looking at this stuff for too long and it's all jumbled up now. Any idea about the spore question?
