I am planning to apply broadly June 1st 2013, and will be spending the next 11 months making my application as strong as possible.
Some background:
I am a 24 yr old non-trad student with a bachelors in a non-science field. My GPA for my bachelors was not spectacular, around a 3.2. Since graduation, I have completed all the cores (gen bio, gen chem, ochem, physics) with great success (3.75+) at a 4-year institution. In addition to these 8 classes, I have taken intro genetics and intro cell bio. I've accumulated approximately 30 hours of shadowing, and plan to continue accumulating hours over the next year. I haven't yet taken the DATs, and plan to study and take them mid-fall.
My question is this: Would switching to a community college to take biochem, micro, A+P I,II be a bad idea? The university at which I've taken my cores does not offer micro in the fall and the A+P (I,II) sequence is through the Anthro department. If I switch over to the community college, will Adcoms see this as a downgrade or cop out? From people I've spoken to, the quality of instruction and teacher/student relationships are far better at the community college, despite the class #'s being lower (micro at cc is BIO 205, as opposed to BIO 314 at 4-year)
Some advice would be appreciated! Thanks guys.
