Everyone discusses picking the right major but more importantly we should all take as much biochem, anatomy and physiology as possible so you can score very well in your first year of med school. I am going to have taken four semesters of biochem and four to six physiology classes as well as a couple of pure anatomy classes. I am going to kick your ass in the first year of med school if you dont have a similar background. A good ass kicking may keep you out of all kinds of surgery, radiology, derm, optho, ect. I hope you are all english majors !

Don't threaten; most pre-med students have a failrly solid science background. 😀

not all of our are able to take foru semester of bio chem. I will not be able to take physiology because it will not be offer anymore. Also there is no anatomy class offered.

what him fail out of first year because he thinks he knows everything and doesn't study    then we should all get a good laugh

considering the 3rd and 4th years of school are the most important, and a lot of schools have been doing away with grades and ranking, I'm just going to laugh this one off.

And since I've been doing as well as the people who've had anatomy and biochem before...

👍   forgot about that.

Don't worry Rendar. Even for the most competitive residencies, basic science grades are not a very significant factor in residency selection. In addition, most pre-med courses taken as pre-reqs cover so little of the subject in medical school, while understanding some basic science topics is necessary, the literature suggests that there is no significant difference in grades amongst science and non-science majors in medical school.

Rest assured English majors!

as an anthropology major, i am glad that i have had the opportunity to study something besides science. i love my major and perhaps i may be a little behind in starting med school, but who cares. i hear for those biochem majors, the first 3 days are review and then everything is new. i would much rather spend college studying something i love rather than something i will eventually pay thousands of dollars to learn in med school. i feel sorry for those that feel as though they have to major in biology to go to med school. you don't have to!! but if you're interested in it, then go ahead. i say life is short. do what you love.

I'm enjoying his "banned" status though, quite amusing    is that from SDN or from medicine 😕
