today is graduation day here at Penn

all the parents are beaming with pride

this one parent in my apt elevator said to me: "So i guess you were not smart enough to graduate on time!...Clearly he was not joking!"...

But what made it even funnier is that his son dropped OUT of the histology class for which I TA. And he was only allowed to drop out after whining that he was about to graduate....

So I just looked at the father and then at the son and said..."well it seems as if the apple did not fall far from the tree! Better luck next time in a science class Zachary! Hopefully you wont have to drop out next time!"

Zach stuck his middle finger at me just as I stepped out of the elevator....It was classic!
I am still smiling!
 
Wow, that's pretty messed up for the other guy to say, rice. Nice zing though!!

ha...not sure why he even assumed I am an undergrad...but then again I do have a baby face (no facial hair) and i did have my Penn backpack on.

whatevers won't be the last time someone attempts to start mess with me.

I wonder if its the same Penn guy i interviewed with once....a huge douchebag....you penn ppl dont have a good rep in my mind, lol
 
Haha I don't think me or rice really count as Penn grads... we just took classes there as post-bacs and worked in the area. I'm not a fan of the undergrads here either..
 
haha penn kids are okay, its just the private schooling. penn is def not an attractive group of people though

O ok...well the only one I met was the doucheking and his dad was also at the interview and decided to tag along for the tour..he was also a douche...and then this guy, just wow.

yeah many of the Penn kids have this sense of entitlement...and you quickly see from where it originated when their parents come.

We were not as pretentious at Rice...oh but it was definitely still there

Haha, I agree with you on this. It was like this at Hopkins with the private school kids, but I think the pretentiousness reaches an all-time amazing high at any of the "Ivies"... Penn included.

Hopkins does have a reputation for producing cutthroat pre-meds, which is something I am careful to keep at an arm's length. Ironic that I eventually became pre-med like them

wtf, his dad went with him on the interview too? wow, total douches. I didn't actually meet any Penn kids on the interview trail, I guess that's a good thing.
 
Add to the list of stupid things our school has done lately: the president sent out a message this weekend to everyone who has been out of school for a trimester or two to re-enroll and he would do a buy one get one class policy for the summer term.

Really, BOGO? 🤣 😆 :roflcopter:

I can't stop laughing at his idiocracy. Add this to "free fro" and all the other stupid programs we have now...

Cavanaugh's and Blarney's are both a little more chill...well sometimes:laugh:

I would have to say I go to Mad for Mex the most...but I live closest to Blarney's and Cav's
 
oh the chef thing is really common at ivy league frats/sororities. its pretty bad at cornell since they have nothing much to do, they like to brag about how good their cooking is

yeah...so I have a couple of undergrad frat buddies (from when i took a few day classes) who have invited me over for parties and dinner....it was during those times when I found out
 
word. MAD4MEX is one of my favorite bars anywhere. good beer selection (gets packed at happy hour), half priced food 2-4 PM (big portions)

new deck is fun too (peanuts)


smokes is the worst (should be less crowded in the summer)

New Deck's alright, so is Cav's. Mad Mex is probably the best, especially when they have those student deals so you can load up on a burrito to slow down the intoxication process.. Not a fan of Blarney.

but ummmm...so....LOL...in undergrad we had this party called NOD (NIGHT OF DECADENCE...was on Playboy's top 20 parties list in the country back in the 90's) where the goal is to basically have a costume that gets you as close to being naked without actually being naked. Each year there is a different theme.

This one year the theme was some type of outerspace theme...and these two chicks came as aliens painted in some special black paint, glow in the dark lipstick, and glow in the dark wigs, and glow in the dark star pasties that fit only over the nipples of their twins 🙂laugh🙂 and their cat trap.

That party gets pretty raunchy really fast
