Class of 2013!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I am without school, got let go of my job early, live with my parents, in a state I didn't grow up in right now....so I imagine my posting will dramatically decline as well. 🙁 And I would hope I can drop by pre-allo to give feedback or what-not BUT because of this:

I imagine I will still be spending my time, when I have it, in here. 🙂

mmmhmmm....well im banking on my classmates becoming my new buddies. And hopefully residents, nurses, upper-classmen and maybe a doc or two. I am sure I will be spending plenty of time with them and they will all understand the whole "med school" thing.
For "real world" friends; I hope to start training with the Penn State triathlon club and maybe make some new buddies through that hobby. I'm not really big on bars (as I rarely drink) so I will definitely have to make an effort to get out there and meet new people without the social lubricant of alcohol 🙂

die in a fire

I requested a name change in a PM to memberservice; does anyone know when it will be changed? Just curious, as I want to get the service I'm paying for 😛

👍 Same with me, but my sister tells me that it is not that hard, because you just have to find the people who are not big drinkers either, and therefore just go out to dinner instead of going to the bar like most of the other students...

What's your new name supposed to be?

Oh yes, I too am looking forward to a fresh batch of faces 🙂 And I imagine the idea that the "friends you make in med school are ones that last forever" is true. But I do know that we will all get sick of each other, after spending hours together everyday  So this thread will be good for a quick get away, to some just plain sillyness 😛 while still being able to gripe about med school, and have others  along with you

Hopefully you'll find out soon, I guess lol. It's not great or anything, but nobody else has it so I don't want to go putting it out there until it is mine.

that's really sad
Yeah, but it happens quite often though. What surprises me is that the detectives were so surprised. Guess they didn't study much psychology. 🙄

I mean, the story is particularly awful because she tried to smother him, changed her mind midway through and resuscitated him using CPR, then went back to her original plan and finished the job. I haven't heard of that one before.

I always wonder what went wrong in the attachment period....for parents who can actually murder their own children, that is.

No dear, you misunderstood me. :nono: I just was saying, if you dump me, can we at least agree on it. Lol, I don't want to get on and find out I am not in a relationship with my Chubbs anymore
ok...make up sex?

😕😕😕
Attachment period? Is this real psychology you're speaking of?

maybe this was her problem.....http://www.agcc.co.uk/researchers-f...st-birth-recovery-and-less-mother-child-bond/

Yes, real psychology 🙂. Stuff like breast-feeding, being left completely alone with a child, holding your child against your bare skin....all stuff I learned in my child psychology class. All this affects, specifically, mother-child post birth bonding.

I wouldn't be able to find it for you, but I remember reading one study that showed for women that held their children against their bare skin, in the first 72 hours post birth, they were less likely to suffer from postpartum depression and more likely to develop more secure attachments with their children.

WhAT IS GASOL DOING OUT ON THE PERIMETER! YOU SHOW HELP AND ROTATE BACK DOWN TO THE PAINT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😡

😳 I have never taken a psych class in my life...

I did have a class that was philosophy of science with some smatterings of psych though...

No offense to anyone, but my friends who are microbio and biochem all make fun of the psych majors😳

Hmm, I was always taught that the bond between a mother and her child is innate and doesn't need to be "formed" or "strengthened". But remember that parents usually kill their kids when someone who is more genetically related (aka themselves) has something to gain.

haha, it's ok Funky 🙂 we made fun of y'all 😛

I personally loved it, sad I didn't get to take more, and it was my major  Clincial psych was my back up for med school 👍

It's so easy to play along with the e-flirting and such, but when you're so blunt like that it takes me forever to come up with something 🤣
Love me sexy..come on baby! say yes..just go with what feels natural.

I double majored in philosophy and biology. People in both of those majors made fun of psychology students.

Very true... all the psych majors make fun of us for taking our classes which put big dents in our GPA...

I work in the Honors office, and I was looking at the list of the people who got into PBK and it was sad that there were only like 10 microbio majors out about 600 something,

Philosophy :barf:

I could never stand it... I am not intellectual enough to understand it... and those classes put a dent in my GPA... 2 B+s 4 units each and a B in a 6 unit class...

I only made fun of the ones who majored in bios or chems because they thought it would "look better" if they did, and hated the subject, but still carried around some kind of "we're better than you" air. I really liked o-chem and biochem (I took one summer session class, so really not that much experience) but it was not feasible to double major, especially after my junior year

I love microbio which is why I wanted to major in it... I wanted to do microbio since I was 9... infact one of the reasons I transferred was because UCLA has a really strong microbio program, versus my old school.

I am a firm believer of majoring in only what one loves... not because it looks good.

**** the Lakers! Go Nuggets!

And ****ing Cleveland better win tomorrow night!

is anybody watching the Giro D'Italia???

Lance Armstrong is back on his bike this season 😀
and Levi Leipheimer (from santa rosa CA, 45min north of me) is 40sec off the leader!
