dumb stuff!!!! Well...not dumb, but more of a waste of time

The labs are really easy and usually not time consuming (with the exception of the one from this past week) and the usually involve clinically relevant topics, such as Blood typing for malaria; measuring triglyceride, Total XOL, HDL XOL, and LDL XOL levels, lymphocyte chromasomal imaging, etc....!!!!!

We have journal club as well. I am actually preparing for my presentation on wed right now!...

this school pushes research quite heavily in my opinion. I am not opposed to it (especially considering the field I might want to pursue), but geesh...some of my time could be better spent either at the gym 😀:laugh:...or studying for my core classes.

UCSD is changing their curriculum to an organ based format and classes end at noon everyday!!!!!! 😡😡😡😡

meanwhile I am stuck thinking about how I technically will not be done with classes until sun-freakin-set on monday's!!!! WTF!!!!😡
 
Bump! We were on the second page but I know its because of how busy we are. Hope everybody is hanging in there. Couple more weeks and we will be done with our first semester. Lets keep fighting and get'er done! God bless!
 
It's so fun to see all of these familiar names on this thread, and that much more awesome to see "medical student" under everyone's name! Hope med school isn't kicking all of your as$es. Sometimes I wonder why we do these things to ourselves! 🙂

Why are there so many muscles? :scared: Anatomy exam on the pelvis and the limbs coming up Monday. Starting to wish I worked out because then I'd have a better base of knowledge for what the different muscles do.

I can see why they're grouped together, but yeah, it's a lot of material and it's a lot of confusing material. For some strange reason I thought the limbs would be pretty straightforward. Obviously I knew nothing about the limbs to start with, or I'd have known better. 😳 At least a good deal of the names are pretty descriptive.

Wow thats a ton of muscles at once. Upper limb or Lower limb on their own have enough muscles for a hectic exam. Good luck! I don't envy you!!

Who actually realized it was november already, because I just looked at my calendar the other day and about fell over. I think one of these months I'm gonna forget to pay rent and all the bills because I'll be in the med-school zone :laugh:. Anyways, keep chuggin all!! 🙂

Yeah, it's kind of baffling that there's a month and a half till winter break. 😱

Man, I wish I'd worked this hard in undergrad (and I wish I was working a little bit harder now :laugh:). I would've had awesome grades! Seriously studying days before a test? What is this?

I'm also really in love with being able to watch lectures at 2x speed. I actually can re-watch/first time watch all the lectures before the test without losing too much time. My 2x playback function was broken for a few weeks and that made me really sad 🙁 but I fixed it today!

Is it technically "busy" when you are doing just one thing (studying)?

Remember the times we used to play orgeon trail...I actually miss seeing "Chubby dies of dysentery" on the thread. Such simpler times, LOL :laugh:
 
anatomy makes me want to blast myself. I won't, of course, but it sure makes me want to. pelvis/perineum/upper limb/lower limb on one exam...

... does anyone else here ever wish they had just decided to get a MS in anesthesiology (2 year program to become an anesthesiologist assistant) instead of coming to medical school? ~$115,000/yr average starting salary for a 40hr work week sounds pretty sweet for only completing two years of graduate education... FML why didn't I do that

hahaha. I started having those thoughts when some of our faculty got into discussions about malpractice suits. Now thats some sucky shiz 🙁.
 
whew I passed that big anatomy exam I was worried about. Actually did pretty well, but now I'm tired as he11 and don't want to do work for the next few days

I know!! how is it nov already??? and why am i here when i have an exam in under an hour? this is our 5th exam and im really feeling the burn out.. i think i studied for this exam least of all.. but its only 70 MC without any practical slide part or essay...
P=MD right? i just need to pass this exam....

i havent been watching lectures at all.. just reading the notes and some of teh slides... maybe i should watch or go to lectures.. at least when anatomy starts after thanksigiving i think i will..
 
sigh.. it was nice catching up with you guys!! hope everyone is well and getting through it all.. i was just thinking to myself that I chose this path and decided to go to med school and i need to keep studying.. and not sit on my couch watching tv all day 🙁
 
Took brains out Wed. That was fun. Cranial nerve lectures start today. Not quite as much.

Biochem test this morning was MUCH better than the last one. Although I'm not sure it could've gotten much worse... :laugh:
 
Finally got to go shadow some last Friday. Missed the NICU so much. Has definitely re-energized me for the final stretch of 1st semester. 11 tests to go. Bring it!

I'm... dreaming.... of a test free... Christmas... Just like the ones I used to know. Where the Scan..tron's... missin'....
 
sigh... i failed my first exam.. in freaking biochem.. worst case scenario: makeup over winter break...
but maybe if i kick the next biochem exam's ass then they'll be nice to me? maybe?

yeah.. i didnt fail because i didnt understand the material.. my head was just in totally the wrong place with family concerns that took over for 2 weeks...
