Class of 2013!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Rainy days and Mondays always get me down....

Today has been crazy. Still dealing with the remnants of Fay, finished up at the hospital (sad), and went full time at work (fun). BUT today I have to work at my other/summer job (financial aid) because the front desk lady is out sick.

What a day, what a day. I need a drink.

Hey, it's 5 o'clock somewhere. Cheers!

Congratulations Chad! 3 in 12 is doing pretty darn good, I'd say!

I woke up this morning and almost fell out of my chair when I saw I had received an invite to interview at Albert Einstein!!!!!! That makes 3 for me in the past 12 days - I am so elated right now! 😀
Congrats Chad!!! I'm actually trying to schedule mine right now. Do you which e-mail address we're supposed to send our date choices to? I have like three addresses from Einstein. Do we just reply to our invite e-mail?

I just replied to the invite email. Make sure to send several dates in case your first choice is already booked. I send 6 dates in early October and received my top choice. Also don't forget to let them know which campus you'd like to be interviewed at (I chose the main campus in the Bronx).

Their interview schedule is weird. It's like you have to plan everything yourself - you have to pick a date and then if you want to do the other stuff (like financial aid info, tour of the facilities, meet with someone about research, etc.) you have email the people and schedule it all yourself.

Indeed. But only 3:30 here. 🙁

I believe noon is the traditional cutoff - and of course you have to remember that it's always noon somewhere. 😀

I'm on call at the ER tonight otherwise I'd suggest a class of 2013 wine and whine party for later. 😉 Except for Chad though, chad gets to have the champagne.

Awwwww....

Well, I'm halfway there.

Started my new full time job today - it is WONDERFUL. A completely different atmosphere from financial aid and I have settled into somewhat of a routine quite quickly.

In other news, we are crossing our fingers and praying that Gustav stays far, far away. A lot of this area still hasn't recovered from Katrina....

(Side Note: I wonder what a big storm would do to my Sept scheduled interviews? STAY AWAY, GUSTAV!)

Hope everyone is doing well today 🙂🙂

Bump! Good morning c/o 2013. BACK in financial aid today. The poor administrative assistant is now sick herself (her 3 mo old was sick mon). At least it has settled down a bit in here...

Good morning 2013! How is everybody doing? I am chillin before I have to go to work. It is pretty fun being a physical therapy aide. I'm also excited because Howard released their secondary, yeeesss! One step closer to becoming a Bison!

Howdy all! So I checked my e-mail this morning (as I'm sure we all do every morning) and as the page was loading, I saw (8). I thought OMG! There has got to be an interview invite somewhere in all those messages! But there wasn't, it was all crap. Anywho, just thought I'd share. Here's to a successful day for 2013!

I actually had a pleasant surprise in my inbox... my last LOR (personal) was rec'd by interfolio. Yay! I only needed it to complete at one school... but it's sent now. And I had to overnight due to the hurricane headed STRAIGHT for us!! :scared::scared: I want it to get there before Gustav does (and it's a coastal school, so they'll at least be down a day or two)!

Go away Gustav! You are scaring the Katrina veterans!

Haha same here. Woke up with 4 emails, and my excitement was very shortlived. I owe people money- so what else is new?

On the other hand, I got my 4th interview yesterday (UCSD)! Which is very exciting. And yay BD2B! Good luck with the Howard application- let me know if you want me to edit your essays (I know how much you want that school, so I'd love to help....)

Anyways, may today bring much happiness in the way of interviews.

Too funny, I also had a ton of non-spam email this morning, but no invites. Congrats to everyone who's gotten them recently though, so exciting. 🙂 Way to represent. 😀 I'm going away for the long weekend starting tonight and won't have access to email or vmail, so I'm looking forward to a break from the tension and hopefully there'll be good news waiting when I get back!

My e-mail inbox has stayed horribly empty for the past few days. I guess no news is just no news though huh?

Mass pandemonium has ensued here. Gas lines are 3-4 cars deep and the line to get IN at walmart is 20 minutes. I guess some people learned something from Katrina at least....

See that final red dot? follow it north with your mouse to the coastline, that's my hometown. And follow it about another half-pointer length, that's my town I live in now - (higher ground, where we'll ride this sucker out).

FUNNNNN.

Oh NO grad! Stay safe 🙁 And I know we both have Tulane interviews next month, so I hope the school is still there! The Katrina area doesn't deserve another one 🙁

oOOh I almost forgot to share my GOOD news!

I got a PDR 2007 (the real deal, not a paperback... an actual office copy) from the library sale for a quarter today!!

So what if it's from last year? It's great reference until I actually HAVE to start buying the new edition! Great reading material for gustov! 🙄

Whoo! Cheap books are always fun. That's how I got my Goodman & Gilman's.

Yeah, and seriously stay dry down there. Maybe fill up your bath tub so you have water (just in case). :scared:

Yeah, I got gas last night and Dad went to the store again today. If this thing does continue the current track, my parent's house here is the family evacuation site off the coast, so I'll be loaded down with family. Thankfully, I have my own place - so after riding it out with them, I can come home when the A/C comes back on!!

I did have some interview concerns... my first one is two weeks from tomorrow! Hopefully this thing will come and go... quickly and not with Katrina-size damage.

Chad!? Where you at!?!? I got a virginia invite today 😀

Congratulations! When you interview, ask them why they've forgotten about poor little me. 🙁 I'm in Richmond which is like an hour away. If you're going to fly in to RIC (I'm fairly sure it's much cheaper than trying to fly in to Charlottesville) I can probably give you a ride to wherever you're going to stay in C'ville.

In other news, I got my first post-secondary rejection: Boston University. I didn't really want to go there anyway.

I'm sure things will work out fine. Happy to hear you have such a family-friendly place to stay!

Sorry, chad. These SUCK regardless of how much you want to go somewhere or not 🙁

I really, really, really hope you get one soon, chad! You deserve it far more than I do!

I was looking at flight costs, and it is ridiculous! Like $450! Thank you so much for the offer, but it's ok...I'm going to try to reschedule so I could do vandy at the same time...that should make the ticket much, much cheaper.

Okay, well if you change your mind and I'm available, I'll see you at the airport! That goes for anyone else in this thread too. If you are in Virginia and need a ride, give me a holler! 🙂

Wow BU went a little nuts today...what are they thinking??! Sorry Chad, and any of the others who were beaten down by Hurricane BU (just to stay on gradu8's topic 😉).

Tufts is cooler anyway.

Hehe. Starting to pack the bags... just a little. Lots and lots of reading material, earbuds, ipods, cd players (anything to block the noise)...

As long as this is just a baby storm, a day or two off work would be nice 🙂 And Dad's sales would go through the roof (he owns a construction company in our "northern" town).... soooooo... there's always a silver lining I suppose.

Here's hoping and praying for NO rejections for anyone tomorrow!

That's crazy expensive! wow.... makes me kinda thankful for my vandy rejection (the rest of mine are within driving distance).

I personally like my current rhythm of getting 1 interview per week. It allows me to be excited for a while, and just when I start getting anxious again, another pops up in my inbox!

Now if only it would keep up like this for the next three months or so...

By the way, congrats Berk!

Thanks chad! haha you're probably right. These were 2 weeks after my first one. That two week wait was horrible! 1 a week would probably be perfect.

One a week is good. Haha. Congrats, Berk 🙂🙂

Yay! Congratulations Berk!

I've got my fingers crossed for all you waiting on good news today. Here's hoping we get some good news before the long weekend hits.
