That's part of the problem. I'd have needed to have planned this ahead and found a job or research or something in New York that I really, really wanted to do and could only do if I took the year off.

You should wear a Spurs "kinda, sorta NBA dynasty" T-shirt. 4 championships in 10 years! Though none of them were consecutive.

Not worth it. That's one year of much higher earning potential as an attending/practicing physician. Your salary for that first year is going to dwarf whatever money you can make/save working for a full year AND the money you're saving as a NYS resident (I'll be generous and estimate that to be about $50,000). You'll be making at the minimum a low 6 figures out of residency (I think).

Just go to school 😛

And it was technically 4 titles in 9 years. And dammit, if the 80s Celtics get to call themselves a dynasty (3 titles in the decade, none back-to-back), WE get to call ourselves a dynasty 😡

I have still not seen any of my favorite teams (Mets, Jets, Knicks) win a world title in my lifetime. I know the Mets won in 86 but I was only 1 1/2 so I didn't get to enjoy it 🙁

I dunno, I'm of the belief that 3 or more consecutive titles constitutes a dynasty, which is why there have been so few in history.

So you'd say that only the 60s Celtics, 90s Bulls and Shaq-Kobe Lakers were dynasties? I mean, I get what you're saying, but those 80s-era Lakers and Celtics were great teams too.

Yeah good move. I was thinking of doing the same thing (would save me $13K + interest so around $26K maybe?) But I've decided that one more year is just TOO long.

Right, but since neither the Lakers, Celtics, or Pistons could establish a dominance over the others, none of them can really claim to be a dynasty of the 80s right?

I'm not saying they weren't great teams, but dynasty sort of implies that they were unquestionably the best of that era.
