so...what are you guys going to assume about schools you *haven't* heard from on October 16th? Nothing new? Business as usual? Greater probability of rejection? 😕😕

I will have had 7 interviews before the 16th and at least 2 have promised me some kind of response and one has promised me *no* response. The rest are all up in the air.

I'm wondering what to think if I get a lot of silence from schools I interviewed at early.

I think it's "business as usual", especially for the schools that seem to have longer turn around period. If you interviewed in September, I'd expect that you would hear... but some places take forever to make decisions every year.

:luck: to us all!!! Remember, it only takes one 🙂

Very excited. But man they interview MANY people. Really like the city and the school Can't wait for the tour!!!!

I'm in Syracuse right now, and loving it. It is pretty chilly here though...

Time to start a new week everyone....! And only a week from Wednesday it's Oct. 15th!

Who's got interviews where this week?

No interviews this week. I have one next week though. Hopefully I'll hear back from somewhere on Oct 15th so I can stroll into that interview knowing I have an acceptance somewhere.

'k I'll Start:

SUNY Upstate on Monday, and Texas Tech El Paso on Thursday! Yay for interviews, boo for missing so much class...

I got one in NY the end of this week....speaking of, i need to book a plane.

Yeah, planes get expensive when you wait too long/ don't have enough notice to book them a ways out.

I'm trying to book one for a week and a half out to somewhere I could drive in a day and it's looking like $6-800. I think I might suck it up and drive 8 hours.

I think the 8 hour drive is worth it.

Ohh yeah! I never thought about that. That does suck...But 600-800! That's too much for a plane ticket.

I know! I feel like for the much money, I should be able to fly around the world, or at least across the country. Not an hour flight!

Haha what cities are you flying to/from?! I know in cali, taking a flight form norcal to socal (like an hour flight)...even if you book i the day before, would cost $300 round trip. i can't see how it's possible for it to cost 600!

From what ive noiced it doesnt really matter if you book a month ahead or 5 days ahead..as long as its not the night before...who knows..lemme go check kayak.

I'm leaving for NYC tomorrow afternoon, and I've got AECOM on Tuesday and Columbia on Wednesday! These are the two highest-ranked schools that I've received invites from, so I'm not really expecting acceptances at either. I just want to have an enjoyable trip and just be myself in the interviews.

Good luck everyone!

From everything I've tried to book once you get inside the 14-day window, the prices skyrocket.. US Airways even charges a "$50 quick-ticket" fee if it is within 14 days of travel on top of the normal fees and taxes 😱

Good morning everybody! This is the day that the Lord has made, we should all rejoice and be glad in it! I hope everybody had a great weekend. God bless everybody who is still waiting on that interview, our good news is coming soon. God bless everybody who is interviewing this week.

I just interviewed at a really awesome university. Definately going to attend if I get accepted. Of the two, one of my interviews was a little strange. We were talking about a project that I have going on and the interviewer told me that: "You seem really passionate about this." I affirmed how committed i was to its success. She proceeded to ask: "What else are you passionate about?"

I told her that I liked to study religion and said that recently I've gotten into studying apologetics (I practice a different faith). I explained that I've alwyas been interested about learning in faith (also stated this on my secondary) and that it will help me become a better friend and doctor. At one point the interviewer said that, "We shouldn't be talking about religion, but since you brought it up how will it be helpful?" I answered that it will help me understand my patients and their beliefs and help me deal with situations where I may face a moral delima (e.g. refusing treatment).

The interview went fine and was a good experience over all. Did I do something wrong by bringing up the fact that I like studying religion? Is that a big no-no?

Not at all. She asked what else you were passionate about, and you answered honestly. You were also able to tie this into medicine well, and I don't see any problems with your conversation.

Good luck!

I wouldn't worry about it. She asked about your interests, and you answered the question. Her comment about religion not being an appropriate topic sounds to me more like a reflection on her own decision to pursue the topic, and it sounds like she did so constructively.

Good morning BD! I think you will be getting your interview invite this week. I have faith!

Only 9 days, 14 hours til Oct 16th!!! :scared::scared:😀::banana::banana:

Wow, so I landed an interview at Northwestern. I wasn't expecting that one :]

Congrats!

Ah, I need some interview 😍 to help me get through the next 9 days.
However, after some web-browsing, I realized South Alabama's interview period is Oct 1-March 1, where as UT Memphis's secondary deadline isn't til Feb 1. Alabama's secondary deadline is Nov 15th.

Maybe I'll get some 😍 soon! (or an acceptance) 🙂

thanks guys. I don't know. It was just a loooong time form being complete to the invite. I guess I had just prepared myself mentally for a rejection since it was taking awhile.

Ohh yeah. I'm kinda preparing myself for that now. Maybe there's hope for me then 😛

Do they give any indication when their class fills? I know a couple of schools whose secondary deadline is January or so, but their class fills on or before December.

No clue. However, when I status checked there in mid-September they said we should be hearing from them "very soon", so I'm hoping within the next few weeks.

Well, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. I've pretty much let them go in my mind. Yeah, if they called me up for an interview tomorrow I'd head down there, but I'm not sure if I'd do their secondary at this point. I have schools ranked higher than them in my book that have already offered me interviews and will be giving decisions soon. UT-Memphis has pretty much fallen off the radar for me at this point.

I think that's really great and refreshingly interesting. It shows an openness and willingness to learn about others. I would think it would go over well...

I do not like jetlag. Oh well, one down for this week, and one to go!:soexcited:

Good luck you guys:luck:

A guy at my UW-Madison interview said he completed 44 secondaries. I immediately chuckled. You got him beat by a mile.
