Class of 2013!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
A guy at my UW-Madison interview said he completed 44 secondaries. I immediately chuckled. You got him beat by a mile.

Not really, I did 45 secondaries, but I also applied to 4 schools that do not have secondaries, so technically that makes 49. Plus I have 5 more to do, so I will have him beat. Don't tell me, he was from CA also? A girl at my Upstate interview also did 40 secondaries...

All I know is he graduated from an university/college in Pennsylvania. I'm leaving out the exact name of his udergrad for his annoymity sakes, I don't recall which state he's a resident of.

its kinda the same way for me, lfw. ut-mem is the furthest school location wise from "home", and if I can get into my state school at an hr and a half away (and much better tuition) I'm not moving 6 hrs away.

someone at my EVMS interview said they submitted 75 secondaries...

I believe that calls for the 'jawdrop' smilie -->

:wow:

I can't even begin to fathom the amount of paperwork that guy/girl is buried under.

and for the record, 40 secondaries+ makes you guys my heroes.

6 schools to start (4 secondaries complete, 1 to go, and the big reject from vandy) was MORE than enough fun for me.

I'm sure I would have applied to more if I lived in an area with more schools in a decent distance. but 6-7 hr drive is abt as far as I'm willing to go.

you guys are all legends in my mind...I did ED and was thankfully accepted. My first feelings of joy were at being accepted, the second was that i didn't have to scramble and fill out more secondaries.
best of luck to all of you tho!

Sure. To quote an expression from another thread: "I'm homeboys with the dean of admissions".

[uh, not quite homeboys...actually, I've never met him]. And I'm not quite sure what a homeboy is, but it sounds like fun, right?

The good news is that if you get invited to my school you have a 70% chance of getting in and that's NOT bad odds. 👍👍👍

So here's hoping.

which school is that? One of the schools in my mdapps or no?

hehehe. No no no. 🙂 We're talking Florida shop.

And just to clarify, I am *NOT* homeboys (or homegirls) with the dean of any institution whatsoever.

I AM the dean of admissions well the future dean, or so I believe(not really). Maybe I should retroactively write a letter on the behalf of my current self from my future self and send it to the present admissions office. Time travel shouldn't be hard to master right? I could also write a letter as my current self explaining the dilemma I am in, if I am not offered an interview I won't become the future dean, but I know I am the future dean of admissions so they need not mess with fate and should just offer up that invite.

70% post interview acceptance rate is awesome! I will be sure to celebrate if I get that invite.

^ How Back-to-the-Future-ish. [Insert comment about disrupting the space-time continuum 😉].

I wonder if it's fun to be a Dean of Admissions.

P.S. Yeah, totally, 70% post-interview is amazing odds. They pretty much invite when they are sure, I guess. Which is nice of them.

Kudos to them, I always appreciate when schools are transparent and don't want to tug at the heart strings just for kicks.

I think UW-Madison is also 70% invite post-interview for in-states, and 40% or so for out of states.

Yeah...definitely. Odds anywhere in Florida are pretty good, though, with an interview.

No, I definitely love being from Florida. I went OOS for college (and I may again for med school, I'm still undecided) but I'm quintessentially a Florida resident. I really do love where I come from. 🙂.

That's a good deal. And a good institution, too. My dad went there for his graduate degree (not MD).

ok, good night guys, I'm exhausted. Take it easy!

Odds at my top choice work out to about 70% post interview too....

*prays*

*crosses fingers*

*asks for favor*

8 days, 14 hours, 52 minutes to go! 🙂

Didn't someone recently do the statistics on them getting accepted somewhere? Like, a 70% admission one place x 50% admissions another place x 60% admissions a third place = 91% chance admission somewhere.

Maybe I should try that....

Haha... Well it's about 1.5/2 at one school I interviewed at, and 1/4.5 at the other....

That would be accurate only if it's a purely random process post interview.

It seems so very far away today!!

Tomorrow it will be less than a week until the 15th...which is when I hear from my first school! 😉

I believe the expression is: "Patience young grasshopper". 😀

We're actually pretty close...

We're getting there... I'm just feeling anti-patient today.

I want a bubble bath, ice cream, my couch, and an acceptance to all of my schools, and I want it TODAY!

Grrrr.... well, I can at least have the first three things... within the hour.

8 days, 7 hours, 22 minutes...

Classes started less than 2 weeks ago, and I have full blown senioritis... I hope I can get in on October 15th, so that I can just worry about finishing off senior year... Oh wait, if I do get accepted, will that make my senioritis even worse?

Mmmm Ice Cream, very tempting.

Haven't had ice cream since March.

I just want to stop missing class 🙁. I actually really like my classes this semester. More than any other semester I've had thus far.

I bet you anything I would like them more if I could actually *attend* them. That would be nice. 👍

Oh, don't get me wrong, I love my classes,
Turkish is an awesome language to learn, Human Genetics is really interesting and Neoclassical Art History is friggen awesome, but I am just tired, after interviews, and do not really want to study... plus this summer was too long and I got used to not doing anything...errr...except the bajillion secondaries...

On another note: I just realized that my sig disappeared...
EDIT: Or not...
EDIT: It disappeared again...

Agreed 100 percent! I've never loved my classes more and I've also never missed them more. The real reason I hope I get an acceptance oct 15th is so I can use discretion with interviews from now on 🙁

Yeah, I know what you mean...I have the signature sometimes and sometimes I don't. A glitch in the system, maybe? 😕 I have no idea why that happens.

Someone finish my research presentation for Thursday for me.

BERKEN I nominate you.

I feel better 🙂

Watching CSI, about to get back rolling on the cross stitch.

Cross stitching sounds like good old fashion, non-brain-taxing fun. I was into it a little when I was 10 or so. I know, what 10 year old boy does stuff like that, but it was kinda fun.

Maybe I should take it up again...

Nope, I do not have a TV in my apartment, and I already know who I am not voting for...

Man, I would probably be wickedly productive if I didn't have a TV. ...or SDN for that matter.

I'm watching the debate more so I can talk about it with other people. I really doubt anything is going to happen during the two remaining debates that will change people's minds.

Yep, watching it for sure. Good thing my stats homework was postponed until Monday! 😀
