Class of 2013!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I don't get women and am starting to think that I never will.

Greetings from El Paso, Texas...
Wow, this place has changed a lot in the past 11 years... I do not remember a thing despite living here for 4 years...

Heh. Have a great interview, funky!! 😀😀

Hey guys!

LET - I'm glad you're interviews are going well. Liking all of the schools you interview at is a good thing.

So something weird happened at my Columbia interview, if you can even call it that - my interviewer did 95% of the talking. He did ask me three basic questions throughout the course of the conversation (why I'm interested in Columbia, what I'm doing in my year off, and what I like to do for fun). Other than that he basically told me about why Columbia was so great (not that I needed convincing) and that was it. I'm hoping that it's not a bad sign because I'm really not competitive there at all, but... I fell in love with the school. After today it has immediately jumped to being my first choice. If I still feel this way after this first round of interviews (i.e. early November), I'm writing a letter of intent. All I have to say about Columbia is wow... just, wow.

And they're re-organizing their curriculum for c/o 2013 (which was one of my main concerns)! 👍 The wait to March 1st is going to be an agonizing and painful one.

Hey Chad, congrats on finishing your Columbia interview! November seems lightyears away, not to even mention March, haha.

I got back to CT from my U. of Miami interview on Monday (awesome school and hospital!) and quite hectically am heading back to FL again for my U. of Central FL interview Friday.

Good luck everyone 😀

I'm a bit jealous of all y'alls interviews... But thrilled you are having such wonderful experiences!

We are all gonna be c/o 2013 "classmates"!!

6 days, 15 hours, 9 minutes...

Good morning everybody! Hope you guys are all doing well. If you get to feeling tired and weak, just know the joy of the Lord is your strength! Just hold on to the vision. For some of you, in about 6 days your dreams will be coming true. For some of us, we have to stay strong and keep our eyes on the prize. It's going to be a great day! God bless!

I want people to know that I am not writing these things out of self pity. I am not feeling bad for myself at all. It is a long process and there is plenty of time left for me and others. I write these because the majority of people on this thread have had some interviews and you guys do a great job of pumping each other up and keeping each other going. I don't believe I am the only one who comes to this thread that hasn't or doesn't have any interviews, maybe I am. It can be kind of intimidating being in here at times because everybody is doing so well in the process. The way I look at it, if you have had even one interview, you are doing well! I want to encourage everybody, but I especially want to encourage the people who are still waiting on that one email that says "congrats, we would like to invite you to interview" or whatever. Like I said, this is not out of self-pity, just want to be an encouragement to people. I love everybody and I hope that you guys get some great and blessed news on October 15th. For the rest of us waiting, our time is coming. God bless!

if only everyone could be as positive and supportive as BlackDr2b the world would probably be a better place!

Thanks Red, greatly appreciate that! But we have to support each other. We are trying to become a part of a family.

I'd say that we're already a family here on SDN. 🙂

Maybe that invite will come today, BD2b!

BD2B,
I lift you in my prayers everyday. The Lord says your time is coming! Be strong and believe. You are going to be a WONDERFUL doctor.

Have you ever read "Gifted Hands"? Parts of his tenacity and will make me think of you 🙂

You're right sirius, we are a family. It is fun around here, tough at times but all together fun! Maybe it will. We shall see what the good Lord has in store!

Thanks Grad! I have read "Gifted Hands". It is a great book, I loved it. I actually saw Dr. Carson speak at the SNMA national conference a couple of years ago in New Orleans. He is an awesome man.

Definitely seems to be. And I'm glad you enjoyed the complement 🙂

Maybe today is your day!

Maybe! All I can do is pray, believe and wait as patiently as possible. That's the hard part! Lord knows I am struggling in the patient dept.!

hey BD2B, i'm another one with no interviews hanging out here all the time. pray for me! i'm praying for you too!

BD2B, I am sure you will get your invites soon. You are such an awesome guy and we are so lucky to have you as part of our class! I am sure the Lord is going to bless your encouraging spirit. 🙂

Chad, I totally hear you on Columbia. I recently interviewed at a school that I ABSOLUTELY LOVED. If accepted I would automatically turn down all other schools (regardless of financial aid). I felt like I really fit in there and could picture myself there for the next 4-20 years. The thought of not getting into this dream school is kinda scary. Even though I would eventually adjust to any location I my heart was really set on going there. Well, I'm just keeping my fingers crossed.

BDr2B I hope that I get to meet you some day in person!!! You are the most uplifting individual I know.

ayushman80, good luck with whatever school you're talking about! Make sure you write thank you letters, update letters, and letters of intent if you have to! I know I'm going to do whatever I can to improve my chances, even if it's just marginally.

Indeed. It sure ain't gonna hurt!

I have a school like that. If I get in next week, I may withdraw from everywhere else 🙂

Now I can TOTALLY understand why you're so anxious about October 15th! I never knew a school would get me so excited (and nervous at the same time).

Good luck to everyone at these schools that they are in love with! 👍 😍

The above is an evolution of my excitement when I found out !!!!
Wow, and El Paso went okay... the interview was fine, but the second interviewer told me that I was competing for 4 spots maximum, which they do not have to give to OOSers at all... They could just have a class of all IS...
They also had an awesome simulation center..

Oh well, UCLA!!!!!!!!!

And those of you waiting for interviews, think happy thoughts, or pray... whatever suits you, and I hope everyone gets into their dream school!:luck:

Hey everyone!

I'm now back from my trip, at least for one night, as I have to leave again on Saturday for my last interview. I love love love loved this last one, way more than I wanted to, and fit in there a lot better than I thought/hoped for. I'm feeling a bit low right now because my theoretical first choice rejected me....it's ok I guess, cause I've seen others that I'd be happy at, but my now-first-choice is pretty much impossible to get into, so....

sigh....

and BD2B- I have total Faith. You'll be so successful!!!

After Hurricane Katrina, my dad and uncle had to move their business north (insurance on the coast is impossible to get for new construction homes). So now he works up here, and mom works on the coast. She's going to relocate soon, but they didn't want to sell the house on the coast if I was going to med school at South Alabama (cuz it's like 30 mins from my house where I grew up).

Well that sounds cool. So you might get a whole house to live in for med school? Can't beat that. 👍
