Oh no, this thread is dying... which is odd, because we are getting closer to potentially becoming the Class of 2013...
 
I just came in from getting the mail, and I know that Columbia doesn't notify you of ANYTHING until March 1st, but I saw a huge Priority Mail envelope in the mailbox and I got really excited. Turns out it was just a bunch of tax stuff for my dad. 😳

If I get a small envelope from them I will be really disappointed...

By the way, is anyone gonna be at Pitt this Monday? I am really excited, and also kind of sad, because this is my last interview until November... oh well, I am still a student, so I need to catch up for all of the classes that I have missed.
2/3 days, 19 hours, 19 minutes... It is based on CST, cuz only these schools will tell me first...

I just got back from my 10 day interviewing trip and decided I'd chime in on this thread 🙂

Just a few more days...!
 
I want to move on past undergrad. I've had enough of this. Med school couldn't come fast enough.

Aww...I know what you mean about having difficulty sleeping, berken. My $0.02: Whenever you get worried, try to remember that the process is far from over so you'll have lots of chances to hear good news 🙂. You will definitely hear great news from at least one school you 😍.

Again, like I said, none of your schools are actually going to refuse you an offer of admission simply because you're too nice...I bet your LORs are dynamite 😀.

Yeah, I guess I'm not so worried because the school that is calling me on the 15th said that they will be calling with acceptances or waitlists (and that we may potentially have a good shot at getting off the waitlist if we ARE waitlisted)...no rejections on the 15th. So, that's convenient, I guess 😛.

Thanks, I got it right after my El Paso interview, which did not go as well as I wanted it to go, so that was an awesome surprise. It was funny because my blackberry was buzzing all day, including during the interview and it was all junk emails, but then I got the email, and I started becoming really excited, but I needed to contain my excitement, cuz I was in the airport...

haha good timing! Well, UCLA invite is great, so congrats!

I haven't had a "bad" interview yet. But there have been questions that I wish I answered better...It drives me crazy that I can't tell how my interviews are going!

PLUS, don't forget we have a back-up plan in case they do make a mistake 🙂

We can make it guys, we're almost there.. and even if it's not good news, it's still very, very early in the cycle and there's plenty of time left 🙂

I would probably go through with the plan if all 3 schools I'm waiting on reject me.
 
I had a dream last night... it was the first medical school related dream I've had.

Anyway, in this dream, Columbia makes a decision on our applications relatively soon after we interview, but decides to hold the decision until March 1st (so they were rolling but tried to make it seem non-rolling by holding the decisions). I decided to go to Columbia and try to bribe the secretary into telling me the outcome on my application. She wouldn't do anything, but I ran into a student who said she could help me because she knew someone in admissions. She went into the office, came out and told me I was accepted! I got really excited and started going crazy... and then she said "no, wait, I was just kidding, you were actually rejected - it was your MCAT score that did you in." 🙁

I can't handle the waiting! Hopefully I'll be able to breathe a little easier this upcoming Wednesday...
 
it is early in the cycle... I'm scared bc my "safety" school is in the first batch of returns, but excited because this could be the week our lives change forever!!

wonder how much sleep i'll get tonight? work is going to be awful this week.

I might change mine back to the Norman Rockwell painting at some point. I want to express my interest in peds somewhere 🙂.

I think we got the whole "I'm a pianist" thing covered :laugh:.

Four. I also developed a sore throat somewhere along the way, so I hope I'm not getting sick 🙁

After I go to Stanford and UCSF in the upcoming weeks, I'll have had 9 in 32 days. But then, I get to stop and rest!!!

Yay! Happy to be back!!

My favorite interviews were with surgeons 😀. I was able to have better conversations with them. I probably shouldn't publicly announce my favorites school - apparently I'm pretty recognizable, haha.

Mine's changing as soon as I'm accepted... haha. I've got two "med student" ones and a neonatology one to switch between.

I don't know, I kind of like the non-statement my avatar makes, changing it to something more definitive after 10/15 would be a big step..

Maybe you could just change your "member status" thing to something else. Just don't change it to "MS-0" since that's a little played out, I think.

i'm flying to vermont this afternoon for an interview tomorrow. it's supposed to be the peak foliage season this week and next. YAYA.

i'm way more excited about UVM than i thought i'd be initially.
 
Note to self: When I become an admissions officer, I will be kind enough to applicants to give them more than a 4 days notice that they will have to uproot their whole lives to interview 😡😡😡.

I nearly lost it this morning when I was invited for a Friday interview. 6 hours away is not close, people!

I don't know what to do. I really just have to start canceling interviews soon. Makes me sad 🙁

what school was this? WVU? (they gave me about 6 days)...i am just guessing as i don't know where you are so i don't know where 6hours away is 🙂

I'm in Florida. I love my state schools. I love Emory. No one is giving me enough notice for any of this. No one. 🙁

PS. I like West Virginia, though 🙂 My dad was born there.
