I nearly lost it this morning when I was invited for a Friday interview. 6 hours away is not close, people!

It won't feel so bad to cancel interviews once you have that acceptance in hand, though! 👍

I guess...but I kind of want to go to some of these places. I'm so conflicted. And running out of money fast.

I'm so annoyed at the way this process works. I have to turn down interviews I would rather have taken because I just don't have the $$ any more.

I was forecasting <7 interviews. I have 11 right now. And I'm losing my mind. 7 I could pay for; 11 is ridiculous.

Apparently! I mean...I thought I was a viable candidate, not a strong one. This is causing huge problems at home 🙁.

I know the feeling.. I don't have quite that many, but I was expecting 2-3.. This is way too expensive. Is your 6 day out interview at Emory or have you already been there? I just got an Emory invite this morning and I'm pretty excited 🙂 🙂 didn't expect to hear from them!

Yeah. Well, at least the rest of us can rest easy knowing we will attend schools with a much greater moral character than silly, rebellious wake forest.

Haha, I'm just bitter... Their pre-secondary rejection was the first decision I got this cycle.

And redrumi, I'm sorry! But at least it's not e rejection.. Still disappointing, though.

I wonder if we're similar candidates or maybe we just applied to similar places.

Heh, my mom was expecting less than 3 interviews for me (out of 18 schools).
 
Ya i'm middle 1/3 of the list OOS, sooo that is pretty close to a rejection, oh well.

Anyway congrats guys on the Emory invites, that is my alma mater. Emory is a great school with a ton of really great resources. Atlanta is a surprisingly fun town as well. Go Eagles! (Still undefeated in football)
 
Don't worry about Wake, redrumi; they aren't too keen on me either I think. No word for well over two months :laugh:.

Im not even sure its mandated by AAMC...i think its just some stupid recommendation, that I personally dont agree with...If a school loves you, why shouldnt they be able to accept you in August?
 
My old advisor randomly came in the office a few moments ago...

His words of encouragement (which are few and far between unless he truly means it) were reassuring. He's convinced I'll be picking my acceptance by the end of the year. And he said I was "golden" for our state school....

Although his word doesn't mean anything to the adcom, it may help me make it one more day.

I think we should! :laugh: That would be fun. Hopefully I will be able to join yall. I'm still waiting and praying about an interview. I need help with realizing that this is a long process and this is only the beginning. It is still early so I have plenty of time to get an interview and an acceptance.

I know how you feel. I have an 8 day notice, but considering it is my alma mater, they know I will be on Campus, and I just have to walk to my interview, so it is not that bad...

I know how you feel. I have spent $2518 on just flights so far, and I have a few interviews in November which I want to go to, but I am going broke...



In other news, Pitt was awesome... I kind of overslept and woke up at 7:45 and the interview was at 8:30, and I nicked my ear while shaving, and I was about 5 minutes late, and my hotel at first refused to drive me to the interview because it was outside the 2 mile radius, even though I reserved the hotel since they said they go within the 5 mile radius, so I had to bribe the shuttle driver, but it was $20 well spent, because he got me there almost on time even though we had left about 10 minutes before hand.

The interviews were awesome, because I had all of my reasons why I want to go to Pitt well articulated *I hope*, and my student interviewer was really nice.
The faculty interviewer and I got into a discussion about my research, and I basically had to defend it, like as if I was defending my dissertation, and she researched kidney epithelial cells while my research deals with liver epithelial cells, and how it turns cancerous, so that was pretty grueling, but it was also a lot of fun.
I also really liked the History of Medicine Optional Session, and I really wanna go to Pitt...

Your time is coming! I finally got my first II and I'll be interviewing in just a few weeks at what was probably my #3 choice (now maybe #1/2 tossup considering #1 gave me the "NO").

How about a 4 day notice? 😉😀 That's probably a flight with a ticket > $1000 from California, I'd say.

I really want to visit the school and all, but...yeah, I need a breather from interviewing.


Besides if I sneeze on my interviewer, I'm pretty sure that won't help my cause much.

by Mitch Albom... it was a pretty good book. I am gonna try to reference everything that has to do with one day or tomorrow.

Oh yeah,

EDIT: And before anyone asks, yes I have gone nuts as a result of the waiting...
