Class of 2013!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Things are looking less likely that I'll hear from VCU tomorrow - I haven't gotten the notification that my file's been reviewed by the committee... If I don't get the status update email tonight, I probably will have to wait until December 15th acceptances come out. 🙁

Just checking this detail... U Michigan said that they would email the accepted students at 12:01 am, right? As in, 9pm Tuesday night, for Californians?

All these time zones and dates are blurring together. I don't want to be refreshing my email at 9pm if I have the wrong day!

Yup I think that's right.

Aww, :hugs:. Maybe you'll hear today *crossing fingers*

And why is the next release date for VCU mid-December? Most schools are open acceptances after tomorrow...

They are different. They send out ~100 acceptances on each of the following dates: October 15, December 15, February 1, March 15. After March 15th, you are typically waitlisted (instead of being accepted) or rejected.

The good thing about getting an early interview is that whether you get an acceptance is determined by your "priority score." Earlier in the cycle there are far fewer applicants so you're competing against a smaller pool. For example, if they have interviewed 200 people before 10/15, then about half will be accepted. The other half (~100) will still be in the running for acceptance. If they interview 300 people between October and December, that means that about 400 people will be in the running for the 100 acceptances released on 12/15.

Sorry if that was confusing, but the bottom line is that if your priority score is put into the system before 10/15, you have a better chance of getting an acceptance at that point.

Oh wow. So some people could be hearing this stuff tonight, huh? That's pretty exciting stuff!

ugh, how awful!

I am sleepy. I just want to sleep right now, and wake up tomorrow, and hear the good news...hopefully it will be good news...

*sigh* another small envelope from MCW. oh well, more burning material for the end of the cycle's burn pile =)

🙁 I'm sorry to hear that. Did you get "small pooled" first?

nope. just straight to rejection. 4 rejections down, 13 to go! well, hopefully only 12 at most...

Aww 😍. Waitlists aren't necessarily bad things.... how's movement at Buffalo? You've gotta be near the top since it's early in the cycle.

I think they might be peeved at the fact that I could not answer the Why SUNY Buffalo?...🙄 Oh well, there is still time for good news hopefully...
:luck::luck::luck::luck::luck::luck::luck::luck:
Good luck, and I think I need it also....

Yeah, it can still pan out funkmonk. Gotta keep hope alive!

13 hours till central standard time Wednesday business hours!

CONGRATS VADD!!! :hardy::hardy: That's very exciting!

Also, Grad, I was touring at CWRU today and they took us through Rainbow Babies, which they told us was the #2 Neonatal/ NICU hospital in the country, and I thought of you 😀 . You would have liked it.. very baby and kiddy themed (although I enjoyed the "keep you busy" toys as much as the 6 year old kids seemed to be!)

Hang in there, guys! And be SURE to post as soon as you have any info so we can congratulate!

DROOOOOOOL. I wanted to intern at Rainbow Babies when I was a music therapy major.... the most well known MT in the country works up there, and she is amazing!

Good luck at CWRU! And ALL of you should think of me when on your NICU/nursery rotations! 🙂🙂🙂 (or at least those who are thinking of peds and will have those rotations for sure)

I keep forgetting about that time difference...not going to make a difference tomorrow. But Thursday...well, I could really use some news from CST on Thursday.

Please stop counting down! I have a bad feeling about tomorrow 🙁

Aw, I really wish I could give you a hug or something. Maybe make some warm tea and just enjoy the aroma and the steam.

At this point, I'm kind of alternating between worried and excited myself.

That's exactly it! Alternating between excited and scared! I'm really scared at this point. I'd rather not know than get 2 rejections :barf:

Me too. Sometimes I'm afraid that I got rejected from everywhere. Then I get really excited thinking maybe I got accepted....

Exactly. Might be a non-trad thing but here's my thought: If I'm NOT accepted, I'm really not any worse of than I am right now. Maybe a few thousand dollars poorer, but not altogether worse off. If I AM accepted, how awesome is that?

I feel like I'm too old to be hurt by rejection or something. Lol. And I'm at the ripe old age of 24 m'dears.

I'm non-trad myself, just by a year, but still. 👍 I get your concepts.

However, last year's rejection hurt. Even though I knew it was coming.

I'm just afraid if I get rejected this time, I won't know what to fix. Last time, I knew what was wrong with my app. And I improved every aspect.

Ohh wow 24?! You shouldn't be going into medicine at that age 🙄

But you're right. It's no big deal if we're not accepted. We just lost a couple thousand dollars.
