i wonder if its ever done.. that is do schools ever receive letters like:
dear med school,

i would like to withdraw my application, but would really like to give my interview spot to so and so. he really loves your school and would really appreciate the opportunity to show you how outstanding he is.

Did you get my PM with a link to that book "The Medical School Interview" by Jeremiah Fleenor, MD, MBA? I was recommended it by a member. I read it tonight, thoroughly enjoyed it, and found it to be very beneficial. I'd highly suggest checking it out.

Yeah, it is by a mile. I was completely blown away by my experience there on my interview day, and I would go there over any other school in a heartbeat. Before visiting Columbia I thought the whole "fit" thing was a load of bull, but now that I know what a "perfect fit" feels like, I'm a believer! It really is the perfect school for me, and I would consider myself SO lucky and fortunate to get in!

Gah! Waiting sucks!

The PM had a link to Barnes and Noble--they ship fast. Amazon has it but sometimes shipping is slow b/c of private sellers. I got mine in 3 days. its 90 easy pages to read, so having it for a week or two would be plenty.

Ok, you pray for a UCLA interview for me and I'll pray for a UCLA acceptance for you! Ooo this is exciting! If they give me an interview invite next week, I'll try to schedule it on Nov 15 (if possible) Now that would be fun, eh?

Hmm...I called twice and they gave me the same number (2-3 weeks)...but they said my file was with the admissions committee and they were just waiting to get it back. Maybe your file isn't even under review yet?

Well, I actually live about 15 miles north of Richmond in the southernmost part of Hanover County. It's not super "country," but our house is own a bit of land down a dirt road, and that is way too "country" for me. I'm urban/suburban all the way. I can't wait to get out of the country and move into the city!

Good luck on your genetics test! I LOVE genetics, and I'm sure you'll do fine!

Good morning everyone! 🙂

Good luck on midterms/interviews/acceptances this week! I finished up my finals last week and my new class doesn't start until the 10th, so I've got a couple weeks off. I'm glad we took our final early - it's nice to have more than just a day or two in between classes.

Hope you all had a productive and/or peaceful weekend.

Curiosity got the best of me so I broke down and called EVMS today...

ACCEPTED! :hardy: Although I think I prefer VCU...

I feel SO fortunate and blessed to have multiple acceptances in October. Now I'm just praying for Maryland to come through (probably my second choice after Columbia).

hey guys.. ive been stuck in the computer lab all day working on first my chem lab report and now my GR problem set... really hard to give it my all lol..

Yuck. I hate lab reports... The medical school I get into, and decide to attend will determine whether I need to take Biochem lab in Spring Quarter...:scared:

Oh, some med schools require 1 year of bio with lab. I have two quarters of lab, and I need a third quarter for the schools that require lab. If the school I decide upon attending does not require the 1 year of lab, then I shall take some other class which is much more exciting...

That doesn't sound like fun! I have to make sure I have all the requirements for the schools I got accepted to...It'll suck if I have to take a hard class next semester. 🙁

Here are some possibilities:

(1) Schools that require two semesters of chemistry with lab where one of the semesters is fulfilled by an AP exam.

(2) UF COM requires it...just because they require it.

I'm not sure what other schools require it...but just throwing it out there.

Oh it is nothing like that. I need 2 bio classes spring quarter to graduate. I was planning on taking biostats and either molecular-microbiology lab or biochem lab. But my Turkish class complicates things because it is at the same time that mol-micro lab is, so I will have to end up taking biochem lab... But if I decide to go to a school that does not require a whole year of bio lab, then I shall take a class on some other more interesting bio topic...

Hmm.. do most schools not give credit for Gen Chem and Lab for AP Chem? My undergrad gave me credit for Gen Chem 1/2 with labs.

And wouldn't biochem lab not count as inorganic chemistry lab anyway?

I just panicked and looked up all the schools I am applying to requirements for biochem and none of them require lab. I hope I don't need biochem lab for anything. I think maybe I should double check..😱
