My dad wants me to do Duke and USC... I think I might, but it will have to be after midterms/ papers are over... unless it is too late for USC at this point...

BOTH: I didn't do Duke because it was too late and the secondary was too long.

Wonder how many applications Duke loses each year to people who are annoyed with the procedure for secondaries.

Well you know at the interview the dean was mentioning that they put so much emphasis on those essays that they WANT to weed some people out with the secondary. I guess they want you to be both really committed to Duke (and therefore willing to put up with that insane application) and the kind of person who can/wants to write all those super introspective essays. It may have only been lip service, but it's a nice thought. And hey, it makes sense.

As did I. So we're both idiots. I'm seriously out of money though and was never super into Duke, so I'm ok with it.

It really is. Way cheaper than flying back East, I love it. I wish the UC's were more open to out of staters. I would have applied to more.

Basically, the schools you have interviews at + UCs. Total, about 10 schools. If I get 2-3 interviews out of those 10, I'll be ecstatic! BTW, I'm disappointed in you...withdrawing from UMich. We could have been classmates! 🙁

It really is. Way cheaper than flying back East, I love it. I wish the UC's were more open to out of staters. I would have applied to more.

UCLA is. They have the most OOS population (15%) out of all the UC's. Plus with your stats, they would have accepted you!

Those Californians.....sheesh. Michigan was hard to give up. I don't think they would have interviewed me anyways though.

Serikk...every school in the US would interview you. Sinai was crazy enough to waitlist you...although I'm 99% sure you'll get an acceptance in the end.

Haha they should just put down my name and address as a hotel near Stanford. My roommates would probably be somewhat less than amused, but I think it's fun!

Ha. No kidding. How many roommates do you have? Is the place packed already or is throwing one more person in there not too big of a deal?
