Do not overestimate the effect of burnout, it can really hinder your ability to judge schools fairly...on the other hand, if you did not like NYC, I think it would be hard to go to Sinai, just because it is right there and you would have to face Manhattan every single day.

I agree. My last interview was at a school that I absolutely loved, but if I had liked it any less I would have hated it (does that make sense?). I was so sick and tired of interviewing and flying and living in airports that I went there with sort of a bad attitude, expecting to dislike the school and just wanting to get the day over with. Luckily I was so impressed with the place and loved it so much that it made up for the burnout- but if I had just felt ok about it, I would have ended up hating it on principle. I swore on the way back that I would stop going to interviews cause they're so draining (and I'm waaaay out of vacation days at work, as it is I'm working on credit). However, knowing myself and the schools I'm still not withdrawn from, if I get invited, I'll go. Better safe than sorry, I guess...

Ok, done whining about the most ridiculously lucky situation a human being can be in now, sorry 😳

Given that you're already in at Sinai and Vandy, I don't think your situation can ever be sorry...but I get it. I ended up turning down very few interviews, even though I told myself I would never go on more than 10. You put so much effort to get to this point, you just think to yourself, what's one more plane ticket, one more day off? But there's definitely a point of diminishing returns.
 
Yeah, I definitely feel you guys regarding burnout. I haven't interviewed since early, early October, but I was definitely starting to get burnt out way back then.

Part of me is already feeling the dread of packing one last time. Also, since I'm reasonably sure Thursday and Friday will be my last interviews, I think I'm feeling increased pressure to do well on them...

Haha yeah I mean I have ZERO reason to complain, ever. I just promised myself when I started applying that I'd follow all of this through to the bitter end so I'd never get to the end of the cycle and wonder if I would have liked a school I hadn't been to. I also really wasn't expecting to do well, so every interview invite feels like an awesome gift and I feel bad turning it down when they're so nice as to give me a shot. Anyways, yes, they're quite exhausting.

Oh man... I'm really, really worried I just bombed my Molec Bio final.

Like, might have gotten a C- or lower in the class and jeopardized my acceptances bombed it :scared:

I was really hoping I could just sit back and relax over the break, but now I fear I won't be able to until grades come out...

When I get scared that I bombed a final, I think to myself: have I ever gotten a C in a class, even when I did bomb a final? No. Then most likely I did not do this one either. Trust me, it works! And I am sure you have done fine. If you are smart enough to get into Baylor, then you are smart enough to do well in your classes!🙂 Good luck!:luck:

I have one take-home final left, but it's a joke.

Ordinarily, I would agree with you on the not worrying thing... however, for once, I actually know I was at the C+/B- range going into the exam (completely got rolled by the 3rd exam because I missed 2/3 of the classes leading up to it with interviews, wound up with the lowest grade in the class). Luckily, I recovered with a fairly strong showing on the 4th exam; but this last exam was a beast. I asked him about this big 20 point question at the end of it, and it turns out my answer was pretty much completely wrong; I just over-thought my answer way too much and ERASED the right answer and put in something entirely too convoluted for what he was asking 🙁 And I felt terrible about the rest of it too, so... I guess we'll see :/ I got the feeling he wouldn't be giving any D's, because this is a senior-level class, but I just don't know...

Yeah, I'm worried. Grades can't come out fast enough...
 
Don't worry, if you did badly, then the other people in the class probably did too, maybe even worse. Curve?

This is the one reason I'm not completely flipping out at the moment 🙂

It's just nerve-wracking, is all... in some ways, it's worse than worrying about whether I'd get in in the first place, because now I already have something IN HAND, and I'm worried I might have actually managed to blow it. It's no longer some abstract concept. I *THINK* I'll at least get a C, but I just can't feel good until I get that grade back.
 
wow.. my last final tomorrow at 1pm, but I am so not motivated. i just dont want to lol.. tthankfully its not like a bio final or something that requires a lot of memorization. its my general relativity and black holes class so a lot more math...
 
I'm officially done interviewing! The worst of it is over... the ball's in their court now... :scared:
 
Aww, I'm so glad we aren't doing finals right now.

I got an email from UMC, they needed an updated transcript (weird, I only took one non-useful, non-relevant class) so I sent it out ASAP.

In other news, the office is all open now. It's odd.

I'm sleepy... and have to go to the grocery store this afternoon.
 
you know what water is NOT good, is the snapple antioxidant water. It tastes awful. My school took out all the vitamin waters and replaced it with the snapple crap. Pissin' me off!

It is to me, but I love mint....

The spearmint tastes like you are chewing doublemint and drinking Fiji, while the peppermint is like a candycane and Fiji.

I'm going to a different grocery store today to see what flavors I can find. Haven't tried lemonmint, cherrymint, orangemint, or chocolatemint.

Good morning to you all! We are having a going away party for our international recruiter today... it's sad to lose someone. Our office is so close.

BUT it's a great opportunity for him, so it's happy at the same time 🙂

Thanks and that is true. I have to pay less than 50K for all 4 years, while at most other schools, I would have to pay 35-40K per year. That is a good deal!😀
 
The sun is out and the sky is blue again! I love southern california!!!!! I'm actually going to leave the house and do something, hopefully find a job. Hoorayyyyyy.

I have an interview tomorow at a local pet store. haha. Im not too worried tho, i have my answers for "why become a pet store worker" and "why this pet store" down pretty solid.
