Class of 2013!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I saw a coworker bleach her arm hair once.

Now THAT is pretty hard core.

With what?😕

http://www.drugstore.com/qxp11029_333181_sespider/jolen/creme_bleach.htm

The only reason I remember the brand is because it made quite an impression

I can't imagine what might've necessitated this.😕

WHOA, hold on guys. I do this! Nothing weird about it.

My arm hair is very soft and very thin. But very, very, very dark. So I bleach it. You can't even see it when it's bleached.

It's a trick I learned at music summer-camp. 😛

On another note entirely, if my immunology teacher asks me ONE MORE TIME where I got interviewed for medical school JUST SO THAT SHE CAN TELL ME A GUY IN HER LAB INTERVIEWED AT HARVARD,

I WILL SMACK HER UPSIDE THE HEAD!!!

(Anger management, much?)

I swear it's the 5th time this academic year she's asked...No, actually it probably is the 5th time she's asked.

^^^ that sucks.

Just remember, a Harvard med grad is still called "doctor" same as every other med grad.

Haha, oh I'm not bitter about the not-Harvard deal at ALL. I just wish she'd realize she's already told me her lab kid interviewed at Harvard.

5 times.

And then the other people in her lab have told me an additional 3 times.

No really, I get the picture.

...

...

So you say he interviewed at Harvard?

That's weird, Myuu.

We're suffering from GroupThink. 😱

You know what's funny? I had "congrats and welcome" all typed out and ready to go before I changed it to "congratulations."
It's 11:00 already? I haven't even opened my HY-Embryo book!

Oh, it's a book!

Well then say, "Oh, I interviewed at X, Y, Z, 1, 2, 3, but not Harvard like that guy in your lab that you won't stop telling me about, as exuberantly proud as you apparently are."

Then prepare to fail.

i think ive missed out on the past 20 pages or so...and i really dont feel like catching up! this thread is waaay too active to realistically follow it.

anyways, i got back from my job out in kuwait a couple of days ago. We had a crazy sandstorm half the time we were there...and my mouth had a constant taste of dust in it that whole time. I made a bundle of money...of which im using to spend on a fancy pants new wardrobe. The remaining cash might be used on purchasing another high-end triathlon bicycle. Oh and I need to buy a nice watch too...im looking at spending up to $350.

in current news; I am working out every morning now. I go to my gym and start my workout at 530am. I ride the stationary bike for 30-40 minutes then I run on the treadmill for 30-35 minutes. Afterwards, I lift weights for about 30-45 minutes and then go swimming for about 20 minutes and sit in the hot tub for about 10 minutes.

I'm getting back in shape for several reasons:
1) i like feeling fit and healthy -- I love working out.
2) I would like to do another ironman before school starts, and 5 months is plenty of time to prep for one.
3) I want to go into med school very healthy, so that i can survive the stress.
4) I am still thinking about joining the military, and if i do, i want to get an "athletic award" during basic training for meeting certain standards of excellent fitness.
5) I want to feel confident and sexy for the ladies 😉

Haha.

I just feel like telling her "Well, since you last asked about two weeks ago, no, I have not gotten any new interviews or acceptances. But you might want to look into some gingko biloba."

What route did you take over there....tell me the stops you made and I want to guess the airline!

The weird part (for me at least) was that this was done at someone's work.

I hope you had fun!!
I'm working out for reasons #1, #3, and #5 (modified "for the men")

Why is it that the good creamy stuff always has to be fattening? Why can't celery be fattening?????????

don't answer that

The weird part (for me at least) was that this was done at someone's work.

It was a slow Friday, what are ya gonna do? 😛

And I'd love to do a 5k or half marathon one of these days 🙂

+1

You asked for it.... 😆rofl::laugh:

But i'll leave that subject, and answer with - Celery Rocks!

I actually hate celery with a passion. The only time I ever eat it is with buffalo wings and bleu cheese.

the route was from Los Angeles to Bangkok.
From Bangkok to Bahrain.
From Bahrain to Kuwait.

okay go!
no googling up airlines!

So...because you flew from LA (my home town) to Bangkok first I am guessing Thai Airways

let's see...it can't be any of the other asian airlines b/c:
Cathay Pacific - Honk Kong
Asiana - S. Korea
ANA - Tokyo/Narita
China Airlines - Beijing/Shanghai
JAL - same as ANA
Phillipine Airlines - Manilla
China Southern - Guanzhou
China Eastern - hmmmmmmmm not sure

And I don't know of any U.S. carrier that flies directly to Bangkok...so it HAS to be Thai Airways

I stopped watching AI half way through the second season. Is it true they are showing more behind the scenes conflicts etc., while cutting out some of the less talented singers this year?

Eh, I don't know if that's true so much... although they have showed us nearly everyone in the Top 36 before this point (so that we pretty much know who each person is before we vote on them). There were fewer of the bad auditions during the initial rounds, but I feel like they focused TOO much on behind-the-scenes stuff this year. It's a SINGING competition, not a talk show. I got really tired of Seacrest's voiceover commentary by the end of Hollywood week. The competitions finally heating up now that we're in the Top 36.

By the way, I have watched every episode since the show began. I'm a big fan. 🙂

I GOT 20000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I swear it's the 5th time this academic year she's asked...No, actually it probably is the 5th time she's asked.

Don't do that... next time she asks, just tell her your list of schools, and then say you were recently invited to interview at Harvard but decided to turn it down. I bet she'll never ask you again.

Niiiice job! you nailed It!
Thai Airways ... 18hrs there, and 15hrs return!
But we rode business class both ways so it was an amazingly luxurious ride.

were you on a 747-400 or have they started flying 777's out of LA as well?

wow nice 🙂 have fun matt. and good luck on your work out schedule! i'm planning on increasing my work out schedule as soon as i graduate in march since i won't have anything to do all day

It's almost twelve, time to pull out the lunch..

Garlic Shrimp. Mmmm.

12:49 here...and I had a side salad with 1/4 slice of avocado (a creamy fruit that is actually very good for you in moderation), grape tomoatoes, leafy greens...you know the kind that looks like weeds, cucumber, and carrots, with fat free balsamic vinagrette

grilled chicken breast, and 1/4 of a yam!!!!

I just can't do that kind of salad. It tastes like it comes STRAIGHT off a tree to me. I try to stay away from iceberg, but honestly it's my favorite. I usually compromise with romaine.

yams, interesting

Ugh, not to sound like a picky eater, but I had a bad experience with yams as a child, so I've never been able to eat them since (I think it's called taste aversion).

Your holiday will be worth it, and you'll be graduating again in four-ish short years 🙂

you know this is funny. i didn't graduate from high school, and now i'm not going to walk from college. thus i'm looking forward to graduating from medical school in four years!

I don't blame you...that's how I am with beets, peas, lima beans, navy beans, dates, and figs

I think I have cauliflower in my lunch (leftovers from last night's dinner).

what's butter beans 😕 i have never eaten them before

It's like a cross between a lima and a pea. Some people call them butter peas.

They get their name, obviously, from the copious amounts of butter they cook in and what is put on top afterwards.

Definitely (I would suppose) a southern thing.

yep definitely a southern thing. My mom makes them for my dad all the time. She throws in some bacon, hamhock, sausage, and of course the trinity (onion, celery, and green pepper) for seasoning. I can't stand butter beans. They are both from Texas (Southeast Texas to be exact, which is very different from West Texas)

But I do like red, kidney, pinto, and black beans

no one in 2014 got swagger like us...swagger swagger like us...swagger swagger like us!!!!!!!!!! 😎
