Class of 2013!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I cooked something else today.

Apple crisp.

Hope it wasn't an epic fail.

The recipe looked simple enough.

But then I only used half the recommended number of apples.

...

We'll see.

http://www.betterbudgeting.com/frugalrecipes/applecrisp.htm

Hope I used the right size pan.

And I still have all my fingers and there was no blood on any of the apples :meanie::meanie:

Apple crisps are _awesome_. I love them to death!

I didn't really study for the writing portion, and don't know if this should scare me.

I made an outline for three topics and wrote up 2 full essays. Anyway, it doesn't matter because I have confidence in my communication skills.

The grading for the writing sample seems pretty subjective. If I can go from S to N in 2 month period under the same conditions, I think that's pretty flawed. I do have my off days, but not quite _that_ off....

Which brings up a rant: vending machines. SO expensive. Obviously vending machine folk have to make money but... and even more frustrating is that I spend so much money there personally. That I can do something about.

And yummy - p. I hope Mr. Nola likes it!

Just left sams. best place ever, but you can definitely drop some serious cash in there.
It is impossible to spend less than $50 there.
You can also get some awesome deals. Tons of 100 cal packs and work snacks for waaay less than the vending machine, or even the grocery store.
Yes

Might I suggest bulking up on snacks and ziplock bags while you're at Sam's (unless that's not the same Sam's I'm thinking of)? You can pack yourself little bags of awesome and not have to blow cash on impulse eats!

I wish the little bags were enough to stop me from splurging.

Yay for cheap tuition! 🙂 Love it. Med school will be cheaper for me than undergrad - gotta love the public school vs private school thing.
I agree... when I tell people they feel bad for not applying to UTSW:laugh:

I agree... I have started to go cold turkey about buying snacks, nowadays... I go to the farmer's market every sunday and get fresh (and cheap!) fruits for the week and bring those to school with me to kill hunger, provide a good and healthy snack, and keep me from wasting money.
haha! its ok 🙂 it was nice to get up "early" this morning. I never mind getting up if the clock doesn't wake me.
I naturally woke up at 8 today even though I slept around 12ish... For some reason, I physically cannot sleep for more than 8 hours...

Same here... I have a bad habit of splurging, especially with the bulky bags from Costco/Sams...

Do you guys have Costco where you guys live?

I was supposed to clean my room today, BUT... I recently purchased a Xbox Live Gold membership so I played Rock Band 2 online with random people all day.

I spent a LONG time cleaning my room last weekend, so I do not need to clean if for the next... say 6 months:laugh:

My problem is that, once it's clean, I never spend the time to keep it clean so everything just piles up until it's overwhelmingly messy.

I am only at home during the weekends, so I do not have much piled up... The only stuff that was piled up was med school paraphanelia, and I organized everything so it is all good... That reminds me, I need to tabulate the costs to see how much I spent... I think it will be more than my tuition for my 1st year at UTSW:laugh:

I need to vacuum hella bad... and yeah once I get clean I feel like I need to clean it again like the next week (and get around it it like 4 months later...). What a pain. My housemate won't let us "borrow" one of his pledges to clean our rooms - lame!

congrats Aioshi!!!

Feel free to share!😀

Oooh, Philip K. Dick! People keep telling me I should read more of his stuff, but I've only read Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep (no, I have not seen Blade Runner) as of yet.

And I loved Neuromancer. It was a real shame when some of the intro English classes around here made it required reading. I'd overhear so much "God, Neuromancer SUCKS" over and over and over again.

Costco is awesome, but membership is required. Are you going to a school that doesn't require some form of non-pedestrian ground transport?

How was Sunshine?

Yes, we do have them and I go to costco a lot more often than Sams. My problem isn't buying too much. It lies in the fact that I have an insatiable sweet tooth. I try to eat healthy, but when I do buy cookies or candy (cheat meals) I finish it all within a day or two.

I find can relate to Turk in this clip.

jeez, i WISH i had to read neuromancer for freshman english classes. what a great, twisted, amazing book.

and yupp!! part of the reason for wanting to stay in NYC is not being able to drive lol. there is no need for it in manhattan

haha im glad im not alone with a sweet tooth!! ive been better since my scale showed me a number i was beyond unhappy with lol

This time I bought animal crackers, baked cheetos, and sunchips. decent snacks.

Quick! Subdivide and parcel them away before you eat them! Out of sight, out of mind!!!

I have a refrigerator full of brownies. This is very bad for my future progress!!

I love brownies and would gladly take them off your hands.

hey, does anyone else feel like the atmosphere of SDn has changed since we moved the school discussions to their own place?

It's changed quite a bit, I think. We're back to all the not-business threads now! But this also makes all the angsty neurotic pre-meds all that much more visible. Or maybe I've just been around too long..

i was trying to find the fafsa thread (with no luck) and just saw all the weird ones we have now that were previously hidden among the school related ones lol
but in good news, i finally corrected my fafsa with numbers from my income tax since i got those today for me and my parents. its a lot harder to correct on the SAR than on the original FAFSA because you dont get things like "this is found in 1040 line 60" or something lol

That is exactly what is happening. Hopefully, this place doesn't become like the lounge or drslounge, though there are already signs that it may indeed become that. For example, when I first posted in the thread about withdrawing it was ok, then it suddenly was overflowing with neuroticism and belligerence.

Excellent work! I'm still waiting on parental data, but I expect it soon enough.🙂

Well, that's unfortunately the way it used to be before the secondary threads started procreating, only it wasn't as openly angry as it is now.🙁

Oh, hay!

So everyone who interviewed today at Ohio State for that full ride wanted to be a doctor... I didn't let any one of them know that I would be one soon.

jg, I miss you too.

agreed.. i got my first really mean comment on my mdapps in the past couple of days.. 🙁
I am guessing you deleted the comment as the comments are your page all seem ok. One reason why I took my mdapps down was that I started getting some inflammatory remarks.

Why did you delete your fb account?😡

yeah i deleted it. it was a post calling me immature and whatnot. whatever lol

full ride??

Ohio State has this program where you can join the honors program and get a full ride for undergrad...or something like that... but I heard it was competitive...

yeah i deleted it. it was a post calling me immature and whatnot. whatever lol
I actually did not delete the remarks, then some one came in and attacked the troll. After that I got more comments I didn't feel like putting up with so I deleted them and took my account down.

Their TOS change really irked me. You guys know as much as I love seeing your beautiful faces everyday, I didn't like Facebook Corporate.
they are changing them you know 🙂

sorry for inadvertently stealing top from you anotherface

I keep my inflammatory comments because they are stupid, and as a result funny... my latest one came from someone from Savannah, GA who told me that they were an adcom at a school that I was waitlisted at... Umm... Savannah does not have a med school... Sheesh the amount of = nutjobs there are on the internet never fails to amaze me...
