Class of 2013!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I feel like instead of being ashamed that I'm NOT reading ahead a little, I'd try to familarize myself with some early material. my undergrad degree sure didn't include much science, so I feel behind already. I know everyone says we all get on a level playing field soon enough, but why stress because sdn tells me not to read ahead?

I too thought about doing some reading. Just like glancing over old stuff just to re-fresh. If I was to do that, what do you guys/gals think I should look at?

No ****in clue...but it seems like they expect everyone that gets in to attend...which is pretty much true for Instaters.
My theory is that schools that do that basically give 100% loans. Otherwise it is definitely not to their advantage. If any school tried to pull that on me I would drop it so fast.

Oooh, I'm sorry, that was the wrong answer 🙁 Strawberry, FTW!

Hehe, to a certain extent, even a few months later I still am too 🙂 These next couple of months are going to be awesome 😀
Are you kidding me, Orange Marmalade is the best jelly ever...
Doing well. A little tired from the 9 hour airport fiasco.

Haha, I am a grape lover. All things grape.

Including wine 😉

How come all these SDNers are becoming numbers? 🙁 Why is Panda a number? And sankondbest? What is going on???
Ouch, 9 hours... Oh and what is with this about the numbers?
OK, so my last-choice school offered me a $15K scholarship per year.

😕
I thought you really hated the school... wouldn't you be miserable there...
Just finished a 10 mile run 👍
Congrats... I am gonna start running again next week... I took a break for finals...
I'm *gaspandrunforthehills* prestudying.

this is just leisurely reading.

Wow😱

To steal the TOP! 😀

oh come on, that ain't going to last. Yoink:laugh:

Actually you can have it. Spurs is my favorite team because I hate the flashy kobe bryant and love the big tim

I think there's nothing wrong with pre-studying and it would make a lot of people's lives a lot easier if they did it.

We'll see what happens.

4 years of misery at a decently ranked school for $60K? Sometimes money can buy happiness, contrary to popular belief.

Um, I'll give you... *looks in wallet* ... $5 to go to Baylor.

Sorry, it's all I've got! And hey, then you can tell your family you got a SCHOLARSHIP to go to Baylor 😀

That's very comforting coming from a current med student. thanks drizz! 😍

anatomy is what i'd focus on, if you read that and netter's and have a good framework of what's going on before you start dissecting it will make anatomy a cakewalk, I think.

Hehehe Yay!!

The question is: Is it renewable for 4 years? 😉

Haha of course! And in fact, the "What's in Spurs' Wallet" Scholarship would likely appreciate in value, since I usually have more than $5 on me 😀

Oh lookey, I found some quarters here on my dresser, just for YOU, pianola! 😍

So drizzt, if I wanted to do some early reading, you'd say anatomy is the way to go?

yes, in general anatomy is the hardest thing for people to get their mind around.

I have never take anatomy so what are some books I could grab that aren't that expensive?

I would get Moore's Clinical Anatomy and/or Netter's Atlas of the Human Body. They are not really cheap, but you're going to have to get them in med school anyways, so i would just get them now.

Ok, thanks a lot drizzt!

Drizzt do you mind linking us to Amazon link?

The plus side is, if I purchase both, I can decrease my "Personal Savings" on fafsa by like 10%

Thanks!

Which one would be better for pre-studying, or is it better to read both? And would all schools probably use the same text/same edition in 2009 fall/2010 spring?

These books are going to be useful regardless of which med school you go to. They're not really updated very often and even if they were, the older version would be fine, schools aren't going to use them as the textbooks most likely, but most "recommend" you get them. IMO, they're required materials for anatomy.

Thanks, I was worried that editions might change often. (I took physics 2 spring 2007-2008, bought book for $150. Fall 2008-2009 I had to take physics 1 to satisfy pre-req but they already changed new edition, the new book costs $160, ridiculous...)
