Today's mission: stay inside, avoid all pollens.
I liked Cornell and Columbia both.
Maybe Columbia a little better?
In any event, even if I *did* get off either waitlist, I would probably choose another school unless I got a huge amount of $$ to go to one or the other. I really liked Baylor a lot, for example.
I'm really torn, though. My parents want me to stay at home and I don't know how I can help them realize that staying at home might not be the best thing for me.
*sigh*
And then I got a scholarship from another school entirely. Aaack.
It's just one whole huge mess, I suppose.
I need to make sure my parents are on the same page as I am or this is gonna be hard. Even if they're not paying for anything, they can still make my life very difficult.
Greek parents can be a bit overprotective. I think that at this point you need to do things that are right for you and somehow explain it to your parents, so as to quell bad blood.I'm really torn, though. Thank you!!!! YES. People don't seem to understand that in the US 😛.
Yeah, I'm gonna try to make the plans and hopefully my parents will go along with it eventually.
We have a max number of PMs? Lame.**** I am approaching my max # of PM's

Thanks OMBD. I'm sorry to hear about your friend's dad 🙁Good luck. I don't understand the greek part but I do understane overprotective parents. best of luck.
Yeah, I feel for you Lady Marid. Hopefully your parents will understand your decision...
The worst part of the whole thing for me is that my parents just don't think *I* am capable of handling a school OOS. My mom considers my college performance "a disaster." I had a couple of medical problems that didn't help the situation much. But a 3.7 isn't a disaster, IMO. No, I did not graduate PBK top 10 in my class like my sister, but I had a decent showing...🙁
Now that I dropped a class, my mom's more convinced than ever that I'm a horrible student and will fail my tushie out of medical school.
*sigh*
I don't know how to convince her...I just don't. My mom's not the best at listening to reason.
🙁 May be she will change her tactics once you actually move out.Yeah, I feel for you Lady Marid. Hopefully your parents will understand your decision...

Donors get an increased inbox, I believe. We have a max number of PMs? Lame.
True, but it sounds like your situation is a bit different. You're not being forced to stay home per se, but you probably feel responsible for your mom's well being. Though I wanted to stay near home during med school because I needed my family's support, my reasons for staying near home are deeper than that. I feel responsible for certain things at home, and I would feel guilty if I something went wrong at home while I was across the country for medical school.Wow, a 3.7 isn't even close to being a disaster! That's a GPA a lot of people would *love* to have. Your parents sound like they have pretty high standards. :/ IMO, if you were able to get accepted to the medical schools you have been (and with a scholarship, even!) you will do more than well no matter where you go. 🙂
Sometimes I think you just have to go with what you believe is right for you. It might take time, but I think the people who love you will understand later. That's how I am trying to look at it, anyway...
so there is still a limit?Donors get an increased inbox, I believe.

Yeah, it's a different situation, I think.
I do wish you the best, though, LM.
Honestly, in some ways, having a half-year to make this decision isn't always the healthiest thing in the world, at least mentally...A lot can change from October to May.
It was a rhetorical question intended to put emphasis on the fact that we have limits 👎.Yes, even mods have a limit.
Yeah, I do really worry about her. :/ My teenage sisters have pretty much taken over with her care since I've been in college, but I still worry about her feeling lonely. She has intense agoraphobia and hardly ever leaves the house, so it's kind of a hard situation sometimes.
Yeah right, this just means I play even more...Darn... I guess you won't be able to play those video games now...
Haha, nice!OK, how is "Puppie pot Red Hot-Sweetpea Heart" a NICKNAME? Haha. <-- Real name
pianola = Wicked Lovey Bear
I wonder if Mr. Nola would appreciate it if I started calling him "Sweetums Fabulous Frou Frou-Pookie pie". Whaddya think, guys? Is that cute?
Same here, or have control over plants... yes I think I watched a few too many superhero cartoons when I was younger...I've always wanted to photosynthesize.
Any exciting stories to share...I went to Rosarito for spring break vacation once...it was ok. But I was with a bunch of people who wanted to get horribly drunk and frankly, I wasn't in the mood. Interesting trip, though.
That is good! Yay for not embarrassing yourself!BTW, funky, the vitamin D presentation went well, thanks for asking
The flowers have not started coming out yet, which is odd... or maybe my allergies have gotten better.Today's mission: stay inside, avoid all pollens.
Very true. I think her last post was stupid though...You know, premeddiva was actually pretty entertaining. I guess she just didn't understand that when people get snarky with you, you gotta be sneaky in the snarkiness of your response. You can't just straight up say, "you're an sob." It's all gotta be implied. 😀
Good luck!Woohoo, taekwondo tournament in a couple of hours! I'm pretty pumped 🙂 Wish me and Ms. Spurs luck!
Then erase some?**** I am approaching my max # of PM's
I have the same problem now... Oh and I was born in Woodland Hills, which is pretty close to Topanga, CATopanga, California
Haha. Actually, I have no idea since I don't follow sports at all. But you know, it's FSU. FSU's just automatically full of losers. Sorry 😛.
Sorry Lukkie.
Also question of the hour: Where WILL I be matriculating?
My parents feel one way and I feel another...
Oh are you still sick... that is not good. I am just under the covers wearing sweats, so I can stay warm. My little brother is running around in his manskirt and a t-shirt... (Oh, the man skirt is called a longyi which is common in South and Southeast Asia...just fyi)Join the club
Sheesh, pianola, you are so popular... everyone wants to go to school with you.
Good price on the shirts! I am glad you were able to make a nice sympathy basket.Good afternoon everyone!
I had fun shopping... found some great things for my friend's basket, and got a congratulations card and favorite candy for my other friend that just got her dream job 👍
Went on the hunt for dad some long sleeve tshirts... which are hard to find this time of year... but he swears they are cooler to wear working outside. Finally found a couple at Burke's for $2 a piece. The only long sleeve tshirts to be found in my hometown.
Now I'm surfing the net and trying to get out of my funk.
I agree.I liked Cornell and Columbia both.
Maybe Columbia a little better?

If you think greek parents are hard, try having Indian parents...Thank you!!!! YES. People don't seem to understand that in the US 😛.
Yeah, I'm gonna try to make the plans and hopefully my parents will go along with it eventually.
Wow, I am very sorry to hear that. You have a lot harder decision than I have.I feel for you so much. My parents want me to go to school at home, as well, but I have always dreamed of going somewhere new. My mom has a mental illness and I've always been the one she confided in (my siblings are much younger than me), so I think she's afraid of feeling alone. :/ I would feel much better if I felt like she was 100% behind my decision to go to one of the OOS schools I've gotten accepted to.
I cannot get PBK because I am a "transfer student", and a 3.7 is a very good GPA...Yeah, I feel for you Lady Marid. Hopefully your parents will understand your decision...

Yum, that sounds good. And do your roommates really take that long to cook?I just made stirfry, and unlike some in this household, it only took me 40 minutes to prepare everything (and cleanup).
That is what the other mods told me also.Donors get an increased inbox, I believe.
Wow, that is a big situation. I hope everything works out!Yeah, I do really worry about her. :/ My teenage sisters have pretty much taken over with her care since I've been in college, but I still worry about her feeling lonely. Is Utada Hikaru the one who sang Simple and Clean? We sure do!
Wow, and now watch as the genius playlist transcends lingual barriers!
Playlist seeded with bôa (not the Korean one) - Wasted summons Utada Hikaru - Blue.😱
I am sure whatever choice you make, it will work out and it will be awesome for you! Good luck!Ugh, seriously. I have been driving myself nuts trying to decide. 🙁
Yep...that's the most multiquoting I've ever seen.Funky wins for longest multiquote. 😀
I can silence you if you want to be all rhetoric. 😉
I think she would like it. She's feisty. Well, according to an interview, she's goofier than she's portrayed on TV.![]()
How would Kate Walsh feel about this passive aggressiveness?
Holy multiquote and YAY for a new signature song, hehe.
Funky wins for longest multiquote. 😀

Wait...you had a 3.7 but were in the bottom half of your class?
Yup. At least junior year I wasn't in the list of people who were listed at the "top half of the class".
My GPA went up slightly my senior year, though.
I had something like a 3.6X junior year, I think.
But yeah, as far as I know I was in the bottom half, and definitely wasn't in the top 25% (getting honors).
Yeah, I feel for you Lady Marid. Hopefully your parents will understand your decision...

That's awesome for Ms. spurs! I bet you were just distracted 😉

Damn mods keeping us down.so there is still a limit?
Holy multiquoting!Super Multiquoting time!
That's what I got also.pizza for dinner!
Awesome.Good luck with this pianola 🙁
Ms. Spurs kicked serious butt at the taekwondo tournament! 3rd in traditional forms, FIRST PLACE in weapons sparring!!!
I showed up... but completely punted in my categories, giving some of the worst performances I ever have 😡
Oh, ToP.
