Hmm. Wonder how long it takes for an ad to get published on Craigslist...I clicked "publish" from the confirmation e-mail about 15 minutes ago.

NVM: There it is 🙂

Pianola, I didn't realize you were from UF. 🙂 That's one of the schools I'm considering going to!

🙂 Hey, maybe we'll be classmates next year.

Gainesville is a great place to be.

[Especially if you don't live with my parents. 😛]

Are you considering Baylor, too LM? I remember reading that you're from Texas IIRC (?)

I still haven't heard from Baylor, but if I do end up getting in, I will definitely consider them. 🙂 I liked UF a lot as well. The only thing that makes me feel a little bit nervous about both of those schools is that they're on the straight grading scale (A, B, C, etc). It seems like that might be a little intense? I am also concerned about the OOS tuition with UF for me, since I'm not a FL resident (even though that's where my mom is from).

Yeah, the OOS tuition is kinda ridiculous but it's really easy to become a Florida resident (from what the other grad students tell me). You just have to hold a driver's license in Florida from one year.

Unlike Texas residency 🙁🙁🙁.

Yeah, the grading scale bit is pretty annoying, no question. But since all the schools that accepted me have the straight grading scale, I guess I'm stuck with it no matter where I go (unless I get off the waitlist at Cornell or Columbia).

Yeah, my school's on straight grading too. I think it goes to H/HP/P/F for third and fourth.

On the flip side, a lot of P/F schools are not *really* P/F because people are still ranked based upon a compilation of scores. 🙂 So it may not be all that different in the end.

I didn't know it was that easy to become a FL resident! I heard that UF also may give OOS medical students a scholarship to make tuition equal to in-state tuition, but I could be wrong. 🙂 UF does treat its students really well, IMO.

I keep hearing that UF is full of gunners. If that's true, I'd at least say the rest of the school isn't like that. But UF medical school is full of kids from my high school, so I guess I don't know.

Yeah. Miami is pass-fail. However, it also reports the exact percentage that you got when you passed 😉. So if you got an 87% in the class you'll get an 87-Pass.

UF probably does try to give $$. I talked to the woman in the financial aid department and she told me that finaid isn't coming out until early May...also you have to get in your finaid form before then (I still haven't done that but will be doing it soon).
