Class of 2013!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
dude...my braket is already pretty much bust...thanks to W. Va, UCLA, Washington, and WAKE FREAKIN FOREST
lol I knew West Va was full of choke artists especially Ruoff so i only had them in the second round...wake pissed me off, but thankfully I only had them in the sweet 16 (for my money bracket)...ucla didnt impress me this year, and for some reason i liked purdue over washington.

If UNC can win the title, I think I can take home my money pool....hopefully.

lol...i thought you ewre set on ortho.

its been by far and away my greatest interest as an undergrad, and i still may pursue that career path.....but as ive said i do have interests in other fields. The lifestyle of a surgeon is becoming less appealing the more and more i think about it. So who knows. Maybe i rotate through ortho and love it so much i think the job is worth the sacrifice. Maybe not, i wont know til i get there.

I have one, but I'd perfer to sit on the beach and drink all summer. We should trade. I'm gonna slowly cut back as the summer progresses (on work that is).
I could go back to telephone interviewing but I refuse.

Also, I will be a college graduate and feel that entitles me to a "good" paying job.

Based on where I am in life now I don't think I will end up in peds or ob/gyn. Originally, I wanted to work in a specialty where I could help out underserved communities and possibly get an MPH or do neuro, but I am starting to feel strongly about psych.

I just wanna have a garage full of ferraris, a hot wife, and lots of mistresses...maybe with hot nurses.😎

I'm a paintball referee. Badass, I know, you don't have to reiterate it. I'm going to see if they need help during the week for clerical stuff or field cleanup, etc. The only problem is the pay sucks. I think I'm at about 8.50 and hour (you don't have to tell me its low; its actually high for a PT job in the area).

lol thats really high atleast for me....i wouldnt be able to find a PT job over 7 an hour..and that would require me to get recertified as a lifeguard.

who says you can't go into psych & help underserved communities? One of the physicians I met over the summer decided to go into psych and still has a portion of his practice that he dedicates to the underserved needing psychiatric services.

That's cool. I've never actually played paintball.

I used to be a lifeguard, it was a long time ago though.

I had not thought about it that way, but I guess you're right. For some reason I felt the best way to help was to do primary care, and help out here or go abroad and help people in 3rd world nations.

I guess my view was very limited. Hopefully, I am well informed and in touch with the "real world" by the time I actually start doing my rotations.

This is what my mentor says about my future specialty:

.He exhibits empathy and compassion which was a unique character trait distinctly different from other similarly aged students whom I have mentored. I believe he still thinks he wants to be an emergency room physician, but after spending a few months with him and observing his listening skills, I sincerely hope he joins the ranks of primary care. There are a few of my Medicare aged patients who still ask me how he is doing!.

I forgot to watch Private Practice... watching right now...

my mentor said..."drop dead sexy...the **** and arrogant....will make an excellent orthopaedic surgeon"

I actually had UNC getting upset in the final four and Duke in the elite eight

I am just hoping pitt can pull it out (hopefully against memphis in the final)

Many people who suffer from a serious mental illness are disenfranchised and have no real familial support. Many live below the poverty line and are completely dependent on SSI and support from case managers and psychiatrists (at Community Mental Health Centers) to organize the intricacies of their lives....i.e. There are plenty of opportunities to work within an underserved community as a psychiatrist

I wish I could remember science like I remember video games from 10 years ago.
Bacchus I also have to write a paper on my research within the next few weeks. Unfortunately, I have yet to compile references, much less write the paper. How do you plan to go about writing your paper? (what will be your pace, and how will you motivate yourself to keep writing)

Those 2 interests don't necessarily clash.

Oh premeds, could you wipe your own ass by yourself? :meanie:
