Class of 2013!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Well, Hebrew Bible=fancy terms for Old Testament (it's in English, you goof! 😀)

Well, get some people voting for her! She's only 4 back!

That was just an excuse😳... But still, I have not read it... I read Genesis in 1st grade because I went to a Catholic school in the Philippines, and they made us read it, and I read the Book of Job in Literature Class senior year...

Bacchus and Chubby were not the only ones getting drunk this weekend 😀

What's up guys?

Its too bad my class couldnt be made up entirely of ppl like on this thread...cause there were definitely quite a few "Quintessential anti-social nerds" at second look..lol.

 I think you'll have those anywhere you go, but it would be nice go a school where they are a rare breed. Actually, I don't mind being in a class full of nerds as long as they are not anti-social.

Yeah, I'm a super-social nerd.

(Ignore the fact that I post on the internet all day long 😀.)

And alot of people already had little cliques. LIke there were soo many people from UNC, DUke, and NC state UG..and they all hung out together.

*sigh* I was the DD 🙁 It wasn't my turn, but it was my friend's birthday, so I couldn't very well make them drive on their birthday.
I thought you said you don't drink very much.

I actually met a few of my classmates on Saturday because we were taking the BLS class together and all of them seemed pretty chill (though I'm sure it's a sample size thing).

👍, it sounds like everyone had a good night.

Yep, needed 10 hours to sleep it off 😀

This is why it's good to live in NYC. You don't need a DD since everyone just takes the subway or cabs anyway.

My UF second look is next weekend. I'm looking forward to it. Except that it starts at 8AM and I'm probably gonna have to pick up Mr. Nola even earlier than that.

I will be 😴😴😴.

Another tidbit. THey gave us all a "man-purse" full of stuff about buying a house.

How the hell do they expect us to buy a house without any income? Definitely to risky an investment for the majority of med-students.

That's how all the nerds socialize these days 😀

I thought you said you don't drink very much.

Nope, you have me and either pianola or funkmonk mixed up. I was the one pulling for alcohol to be served at our Texas party next fall, they were the ones who wanted it dry 😛

Yeah, but then I don't have any money to go drinking with after paying for cost of living 👎

But yay free food/coffee! 😀 Also, how's the Baylor fin aid applications coming?

Okay... I am just wondering, is going to 2nd looks necessary? I did not go to UTSW's this weekend, because I wanted to save the 500 bucks...

But yay free food/coffee! 😀 Also, how's the Baylor fin aid applications coming?

Yeah, a free turkey sandwich. Haha 😉 I think they said something about bagels? 😛

The Baylor finaid application is going ok. I filled out my part and put it in my dad's hands. I called Baylor and they just said to get it in ASAP. Which I am trying to do.

There was a communication breakdown between me and my dad this past week or so.

Anyway, he said he'd have it done by tomorrow, but I think that's a pipedream. I filled out the scholarship form already, though :xf::xf: .

I feel horrible holding on to acceptances that I know I won't take just because I might get offered some finaid.

Somehow, medical schools need to find a way to speed up this application process so that I figure out which waitlists I can get off of, figure out what kind of finaid I might get, and then give up the acceptances I will never take to people who could actually use them.

I wonder if you can scan it and email it the fin aid office to get it in sooner...

I just sent in the application form myself this last week, so I don't think you're too far behind; according to the secondary app page, it seems like half of the class still isn't even full yet.

Yeah, I kinda feel that way. In fact, I have so many un-filled out forms for UTMB, it's getting pretty ridiculous.

Haha, that'd be so weird.

When's your Israeli women paper due, Spurs?

Tomorrow at 11:59 PM. I still have barely started the research phase 😳 Luckily, it's only 4-6 pages, so I feel like I can whip up a B-quality paper without too much effort.

Nice, nice.

I'm pretty sure the Baylor application has some notice about "E-mail will not be accepted" -- at least for one part of the financial aid application. There are 3 forms I'll be sending in and I think one of them said that the application will only be accepted by snail mail.

Oh, bother. I guess they just hate trees. 🙁

Speaking as someone who is hoping on hope to get off of any of my wait lists:

I think the process sucks. I think it has messed with my mind. But I think that the May 15th deadline is fine. If people fill out their FAFSAs and fin aid apps with acceptances, and have that info prior to May 15th, the rest of the summer till August is enough time for WL movement. Towards the middle of July the movement is a trickle.

You shouldn't feel guilty, your spot will get to someone eventually... And youaren't preventing anyone from getting a spot they would get otherwise. No use in feeling guilty. We're all waiting.

Haha, I don't even know if I have forms to fill out for Miami or USF. Actually I had to fill out a scholarship form for Miami -- but I didn't because it required me to write an essay. Turns out, they didn't mind if I wrote the essay or not. 😉 USF basically promised me that I would be getting no aid from them. Haha.

Haha, you have plenty of time. 4-6? You can do it! 😀

Yeah, I hope you get my spot at Miami if I end up choosing not to go.

I honestly don't have any idea what I am supposed to be doing for UTMB... I have a big packet from them with a bunch of forms that I haven't really looked too closely at, but I've just been swamped lately.

Yeah, when I saw that our "term paper" in this class was a little 4-6 page double spaced joke, I definitely gave myself a little high five 😀

At least you didn't get called out by another nerd in another thread and put up as an example of internet nerd-dom.

Sweet 16, men's bracket. Snape vs. Tony Stark debate.

Lame. I mean, I don't know how anyone who's here could claim to NOT be something of an internet nerd 😀

Well, I guess it's one thing to be active online and quite another to have contemporary comic book knowledge...:cry:

That drives me nuts when schools push that, unless one is loaded it's a terrible mood.

I mean its possible that monthly payments will be equal to what you will pay for rent, but that doesnt take into account, upkeep, iinsurance, Down payment, etc. And if you go somewhere else for residency you might be forced to sell and depending on the market actually lose money on your investment,

Those are all my problems with it. My undergrad was pushing buying really hard when I entered it. I actually wrote a couple letters to the administration outlining what a bad idea it was. I don't know anyone who bought very well, but I'd bet that at least 75% of them got completly ****ed on the deal.

Yeah, that just doesn't make a whole lot of financial sense...

You're a school admin now? What freebies do you get with that?
