Today sucks. It's a holiday (sort of) but I'm at work for pretty much a full day (ok, so I was late so it'll be more like a seven hour day. Six if I can find the balls to ask my PI to let me leave early) and I just got put under "Active Consideration" by Tufts. It's practically mid April!

I'm kind of annoyed that all these schools invited me to interview if there's some flaw in my application that's not going to let them accept me, because all my interviews went well so they weren't the issue. So much money and time traveling... 🙁 I'm going to be a little bitter until I matriculate (at which point, whatever. I'll fall in love with the school I'm at and forget all about this process).

ETA: And Dunkin Donuts put cream in my coffee without asking! I don't/can't drink milk! It makes my stomach feel funny.

Ah, first world complaints. 😀

Unfortunately, yes.

The good thing though is that I have my current apartment till the end of July, and if I'm going to Downstate, I'm moving in with my brother. So I'm just going to finish all my financial aid forms for my wait lists, finish up sending letters, and then I'm going to forget about everything, go to Turkey in May and have a great time whether or not I get any more acceptances. And then I'll come back, and by the end of June, probably withdraw from my wait lists.

I'm just having my initial "WTF! 😡 Grr!" reaction, and then it'll fade and I'll be all "Whatever. I'm going to be a doctor! 😀"

I've started. It's just hard when I'm in the midst of writing letters to my wait listed schools. Once I'm done with those, I can be all "out of sight, out of mind" and feel better.

But part of the reason I've been throwing out half my stuff is that there's no way it'll all fit in my brother's apartment. The room I'll be in is tiny! I hope my bed fits.

I'm even finally getting rid of my issues of Shojo Beat. 🙁 I have a year's subscription's worth of the first round of issues, but I never read them all because I lost two in the middle and never got around to buying them, so I've been toting all 12 or so of them around with me for years now.

😱 I didn't even know med school in the US could be that cheap. Wow. I need to stop learning about these things! My salary's lower than other people here, and med school will automatically be more expensive (yay being a DC resident...?).

I actually just got accepted to...wait for it...wait for it...wait for it....Stanford (right after I got the HP list letter from UCSF). I liked the school, but not as much as UCSF....I'd die to go to UCSF.

I have to find a way to get them to gimmmmmme $$$$$$ b/c it is quite expensive. That's why I asked about the scholarship stuff a while back

But minority students get hooked up pretty well at Baylor...so I am waiting for good news
But in the end UCSF is my dream school

you can study at the library already (it is 24hrs M-Thursday...closes early Friday - Sunday). Alot of the med students would set up shop there all the time.

And they don't check student ID's at either one of the pubs on campus.

Not much security on Rice's campus

Being a student at Penn, on the other hand, is like being in an open jail (kind of oxymoronic ) - there is security EVERYWHERE!!!

I would have shared it with you guys but I always feel like I am name dropping (read bragging) like other douches (none of you guys) who start the "which school" 😡 threads in the school-specific thread. So I just keep it to myself.

I let UCSF slip b/c it is my absolute dream school and would do almost anything.....hubba hubba

I have been really blessed this cycle and when I see others who are still holding out hope for their first, the last thing I want to do is be like...GUESS WHAT BIOTCHES...DAT's right I'M THE ISH...LET'S SEE HARVARD vs YALE...DID I MENTION I DESERVE THIS...I MEAN I HAVE THE NUMBERScough cough woo*ie cough cough" (granted there are some people who are genuine is their post and honestly seeking help)
