Class of 2013!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Haha, I feel like my body's shutting down now or something. Half of it is the whole "mission accomplished" feeling, and half of it is the terror and awe of what I'm about to undertake (inspired by things like Panda's blog, the PBS live series, and other anecdotal doctor misery-stories).

Yep.

I want to sleep from now til then

Yay for quitters! 😀

I was going to leave in the middle of June, but I just found out they won't pay me for all the vacation I have backlogged via check, so I have to take the vacation days before I quit for good. This puts my departure date right around Memorial Day. <6 weeks remaining!

Yep. Meee too!

I heard about this. thanks!

Blergh, I just talked to my HR person and he nixed my idea for taking vacation around Memorial Day.

Basically, he said I can't take scheduled time off once I give my one month notice (which I haven't done yet) so I have to take massive time off now, give my notice in May, then leave in June. It works out to the same amount of hours, but then I won't be free of this job until June 🙁

Lol. I have suceeded in distracting myself all morning.

Try distracting yourself all day by mounting a pro-Zelda campaign against a child-molesting man-bat who was addicted to meth and crack before he recently passed (who you also campaigned for before the championship).:laugh::laugh::laugh:

Yeah, you've been going real hardcore with the Zelda campaign, Myuu. You must be worn out from all that effort, though you did get one extra Zelda vote it seems. 45-38 now 🙂

I was going to replace Uncle Sam's head with Zelda's and the stars with the triforce, but I didn't have enough time after work.

Edit: And today I don't get home until 10PM, so :cry::cry::cry:

I have spent >60 hours procrastinating on this **** paper.

when you tell her and she gets mad just tell her to "GET OVER IT!!!!" :meanie:

:hello: morning people

ugh I was originally going to quit my job at the end of May... but not I think I might quit the 1st week of May. I wouldn't have to quit if they gave me weekends off gosh darn it! I just feel really bad quitting I know my boss isn't going to like it

That. Very much.

Not gonna lie, I'm kind of glad I'm not the only one.

Hey Dr Lyss, you've gotta do what's best for you. I totally understand.

On that note, Sunday is my last day at my job 😀😀😀.

I for one love how my "I'm leaving my job" deadline has gone from the end of July, to the middle, to the beginning and I'll just save up all the holiday and sick days till the end so I can physically leave in the end of June but still be "employed" till the second week of July 👍

Yay for quitters! 😀

yessss join the club. I think BD is quitting a week or so early too! Our numbers our growing. It's just become harder and harder to work after I was accepted.

my boss jus texted me with smiley faces... I can't tell her today that I'm leaving! lol maybe I will drop a hint

Quitters! I'm definitely quitting at the end of May and that's that. Well, I have racked up so many vacation days that I could quit at the end of May and still be gainfully employed through June :meanie:

I have about 8 weeks of vacation time saved up 😀

who cares!:meanie:

that's the jealousy responding

I'll only have 7 vacation days by the time I leave at the end of May.

I was hoping to use my paid vacation for the "end of employment" date I gave them. Oh, well.

Ooh, yeah I don't think it works that way. Not for me at least 😳

👎 :meanie:

no really how do you have so much vacation time saved up? Here at Penn they cap it after a certain number of days.

Yeah, they used to have no cap here and they just started instituting one but it's still an obscene number of hours anyway (390 max this year and 315 max next year). That equates to 52 and 42 days off, respectively.

I currently have 280 hours, which equals 37.5 days off, which is like 7 1/2 weeks.

At least you guys have permanent had it for a while! They hired me at Maryland as an "if and when" employee (no benefits, no nothing) and just put the paperwork through for me to be hired as a contractual employee 2 weeks ago, giving me insurance and 10 days leave right in time for me to quit and go to medical school. Even though I've been working 8-4 since I graduated college last May.

B*******.

Edit: Man am I gonna have a hard time cleaning up my colorful language in med school. I don't think many of the attendings and older patients will take to kindly to that paired with a couple tattoos and piercings.

Yeah, I've been pretty spoiled, I'll admit. My last job was similar to this too.

Haha, you just have to use your professional voice when you're in the hospital. When I'm not working, I curse like a sailor too (minus the tattoos and piercings though) 😀

I worked at Carey through school and post bacc. Started FT here in May. I'll have a full year.

They are so lax though because I've been at least part time for six years. I pretty much do what I want... but I'm always on time and I'm courteous to ask for time off in advance (which is VERY helpful for the times when I need to leave on the fly - since it's not often, he never says anything).

My boss got my quit date right after Christmas
