Class of 2013!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
You wanna do a rotation with me in the Deaf Health Pathway? Huh?? ::nudge::

I got two words for ya: Come oooon! I mean, we're both (kinda) from Baltimore, know ASL, and I'm pretty much awesome. 😀

Haha, I wonder if that's even possible. It seems like a specific, sustained program for the kids at UR. BTW, I'm not fluent in ASL - I was raised completely oral. 😛 Maybe that's why the lack of love for me.

Sort of. My drive home is an hour and a half, assuming no accidents or natural disasters.😳
Unlucky, I have a nice 2 minute shuttle ride, followed by 5 minutes in the car. Which is a step down from my living situation last year, where it was just the shuttle ride.:d

I'm really, really looking forward to living across the street from the school.

😆I know exactly what you mean.

I mean it! I head due east in the morning. There's a spot in Maryland before Silver Spring where the beltway turns into the blinding, vampire-toasting rays of the sun. Traffic slows from 40-60mph to a feeble 2mph as people rediscover their sun visors...

I'll have to remember that place the next time I go out on a hunt.

That sounds rough, people are far too overreactive to such situations. The drivers where I live apparently all suffer from color blindness and decided to redefine several words; such as the word "Stop" here it means that you should probably increase your speed as you take this 90 degree turn.

That's the fun part!:laugh::scared:

Argh, speaking of vampire-toasting sun rays, it is boiling over here 🙁

Ridiculous temperatures + out-of-control allergies make aznb0y129 an uncomfortable boy 😳

I took some Claritin this morning too, what the frak?

I took one around 10AM. I step outside around noon and the sniffling begins. I read around 1PM that it's probably the placebo effect. Sniffling continues.:cry:

Serves two 😉

Very clever.

Didn't you post that link earlier about them selling sub-therapeutic meds so that they would be non-drowsy?

I think I got some of the defective ones...

I did. I checked the back of the pill...container... non-box aluminum foil... thing and it said it contains 10mg of loratidine, which is, according to that person in allo, sub-therapeutic. Hopefully the sudoephedrine is picking up the slack...

Coincidentally, that same poster now says:

So, who knows!

Argh, I just hope allergy season ends early this year. It's been brutal the last week and a half 🙁

I'll hope so too for your sake.

Yesterday, I started the Daniel Craig "James Bond" workout per Men's Heath... super sore.

Yeah? What's that consist of?

There's a week long schedule with Saturday & Sunday being recovery light cardio days. Other wise it's broken down like this (with 4 sets of 10 reps per exercise)...

Monday: Cleans plus press, weighted knee raises, weighted step-ups, pullups, incline push-up and tricep dips.

Tuesday: Incline bench press, pull-up, incline push-up, and incline pec flys

Wednesday: Squat, straight-leg deadlifts, hamstring curls and weighted lunges.

Thursday: Incline bicep curls, tricep dips, lateral raises and shoulder press

Friday: Same as Mondays.

Geez, that sounds intense. Good luck with that 👍

I'll stick to my sporadic, light cardio workouts :laugh:

I was so excited to get out of work early, I get into the car...and burn my hand on the leather steering wheel. Literally, I have the red marks on my fingers 🙁

I am going to sound like a drug pusher or something, lol, but have y'all tried zyrtec??

I was getting too bored with my previous routine and didn't feel like I was getting anything out of it. Then, last week, a buddy of mine sent me the link to that article.

I think I'm going to. Have you tried both and think Zyrtec is better?

Claritin didn't work for me even when it was a script...if zyrtec fails me, I am beyond screwed.

Zyrtec = cetirizine
Claritin = loratadine

You can get them super cheap if you buy off-brand. I'm not a doctor so I can't tell you exactly how they are different or how they work, but I know that zyrtec stopped working for me so I switched to "equate Allergy Relief" (loratadine) that I got at Wal-mart and it has worked incredible well compared Zyrtec (for me, but everyone is different...).
So yeah....I guess for these two drugs, it really depends on the person? I can not function without zyrtec and singulair. If you have perennial allergies and/or asthma (like me!!) talk to your doctor about singulair (I swear I am not a drug rep or.... a commercial), even though singulair is pretty expensive. I am pretty much comfortable now, and if I get the sniffles or the weather changes too quick, zyrtec D covers it.

had a very stressful day where nothing really wanted to go right. but the actual second look/luncheon part was nice 🙂
Met several new people... except I didn't get to see bcblazer (where were you? we must have been on completely separate sides of the hall).

Anywho, I lived after almost wrecking over a BOAT engine on the highway 😱. then we got there and thesign said the thing was 11-1... even tho my invite said 12.... :scared:... turns out and they had that room reserved at 11 for catering.
Crisis averted.

They have an elective where you can work with Deaf patients in a primary care setting...I wonder the same thing but I figure if they think they can teach students enough ASL in basically 3 months, I've got nothing to worry about skill-wise. I think it may be doable, if not, I thumb my nose at them!

I have a few friends who were raised oral and picked up sign within a matter of 6 months - people are obviously still visually dependent using lipreading, so I think its just a matter of interation and picking up vocab and going from there 🙂

aaaaaand my aunt and uncle got another call from the adoption agency! four little boys ages 1-6. the judge approved them alrdy and they meet with the social worker tomorrow and hopefully will know TOMORROW if they are going to get them!!

Wow, that's fantastic! 😀
