Class of 2013!!!

not that anything is wrong with state schools or those schools mentioned!

I'm saying that because the choice for me comes down to saving money and going to my state school or bucking up and embracing the debt at Cornell...

just wanted to clarify 😀

yea it sucks but what's the alternative? Spending the next 4 years at SUNY ______ (our state schools) wondering what life would have been like if we went to NYU/Cornell? I know I wouldn't be as happy at Downstate or SB as I would at Cornell. I know I'll pay it off eventually I'm not too worried.
and it wouldnt even be that much of a difference with downstate.
and i agree. we'll pay it off..
mr. ar is being so unbelievably awesome. he gets a yummy stipend so he;s kinda with more money now and is helping out so much with apartment stuff for us.. I always think "one day, when im an attending and will have a nice salary, I will totally return the favor." lol. i love getting him stuff whether its just taking him out to dinner or whatever, LOL.

ill stop babbling now.. i was just very impressed by him.😍😍😍

awwwww so cute. Babble away! MY SO is spazzing about debt a little because this is his first time ever really dealing with it, but we both know we will make it. It's great to have support.

hehe thanks lyss 🙂
i was just shocked and surprised at how committed he really is to us...

that's hard to find! you betta lock that down lolol

anyone who saw the move I Love You, Man will get that reference

yeah.. but COA is 64K.. and the its about 32K a year of unsubsidized loans...

Wait, so then after the $22,000/year scholly, you're looking at $42,000/year in loans. The unsubsidized loans don't capitalize while you're in school, either. I don't see how you can graduate with more than $200,000 in debt 😕

I think she's adding interest

Where is this spreadsheet I'm missing?

Would someone be either kind enough to link it or to tell me the thread name? Pretty please. I will 😍 you a lot.

the 32K a year turns into quite a bit more every year since interest accrues. the unsubsidized dont accrue interest, but thats the minority of the total loan amount

lol yea im including interest.

your interest won't end up being that high in the end because you can consolidate at a lower interest rate

no more money talk!!! Its depressing with how little of it, i have.

Oh I have also passed Yoda & Azn to regain my rightful spot at #5 BABY!

Bow to me

It's in the school specific discussions thread. I made my own spreadsheet that has all the details so you can fiddle with everything (including residency salaries and your payments during residency, etc.) too if you want it PM me. I haven't posted it on SDN b/c it can be kinda messy if you don't spend some time figuring out how exactly I do it.

For subsidized Stafford loans, you're all set. $8500 a year, no interest until you graduate. For unsubsidized Stafford loans, interest is accrued yearly but is not capitalized, i.e. compounded into the principal. You're gaining interest but it's not counting towards the next calculation of interest, if that makes sense. Not sure about GradPlus but I think the interest is also not capitalized until repayment starts.

I'll need to take a look at that spreadsheet but right now I can't see how you'll be $300k+ in debt when I'm taking out loans for more per year and will be less than $200k in debt by the time I graduate. The COA includes living expenses in NYC too, right?

I am in 10th place..but atleast im ahead of gloryface and riceman.

yeah.. I want to see if i can take out the full federal unsubsidized amount instead of what they offered (its only like 3.5 K difference) because it would seriously help with living expenses... 🙁

question for you riceman...what kind of scale do you use to rate women?

the typical 1-10, yay or nay?...boinkable or not?

Just curious.

hahahahahahahaha

assuming we are talking about when I am not wearing beer goggles

me and my friends use a range that utilizes slang words: "NEVER THAT" to "GILF"

just for the record: I do not consider women to simply be objects (without depth or feeling)...just had to say that

Just Lyss (just had to say that) haha..

WHy is it bad that we rate women?? Its not like girls dont do the same to us.

I can't quite tell, my understanding of the formulas the guy used = fail.. I think it's a pretty basic accounting formula but I'm not sure if he's accounting for the fact that the unsubsidized loans do NOT capitalize while one is in school. Another mistake with the sheet is that the subsidized loans seem to be accruing interest WHILE in school, although it's a very small amount.

Plugging my numbers in gives me an additional $20k of debt on top of what I had originally calculated with my sheet. So I'm not 100% sure how good the sheet is, but it should be about right. I'm not sure if you put in the wrong numbers or something but $312k of debt after graduation doesn't sound right to me. Let me know what you get on the sheet I sent you.

:uhno: Haha... I think most of us guys use some sort of sliding scale, it depends on how drunk we are at the time of usage.

RR, i probably screwed something up. LOL. ill def check out your spreadsheet 🙂

Ever heard of the ladder theory?? I use a modified version of that.

Hahaha, I remember a friend sending me a link to a page explaining it. From what I remember, which isn't much, that had more to do with whether you're just a "friend" or not, i.e. each girl has two different ladders and you aren't sure which one you're on. And of course if you get kicked off the ladder, you fall into the abyss of death or something aptly named

what?? ok i must not understand it then...haha I rate women from 0 to 7

(ladies cover your eyes)

0-would never do, no matter how drunk
1 and 2- would do blitzed but would not admit it
3 and 4- would do drunk and would admit it, but not sober
5-would do sober...but not hot enough to actively pursue it.
6- actively try to hit it
7- the rare dimepiece that I want to marry.

OMG what is wrong with me. I have a final Tuesday and I haven't studied one bit yet.

If there is a huge difference, then I would factor it in, but otherwise I don't mind paying extra money. So now I am going to ask a question that is kind of related to this. I really wanted to travel and do a few other things this summer, however the money that I had has been wasting away. I feel a bit frivolous for even considering this, but should I use a loan to fund this fantasy if it comes to that?
