Thanks! I guess I'm not quite sure what I'm even looking for. Cause if I get really great finaid from UF, my decision is pretty much made for me. And if I get really lousy finaid, well, then I have to go through the arduous process of figuring out $$ concerns and trying to convince my parents that I won't die in Houston my first year of medical school.

Wouldn't UF already be cheap for you straight up, seeing as you are a FL resident?
 
Yeah, Myuu is pretty awesome. She remembers details well and she's vere level-headed. I think she's gonna be a great doc, too 🙂

It's kinda cool when you can actually see why people in this thread would be great doctors.

Yeah I'm being annoying and complaining about the difference between two pretty-cheap schools.

(UF and Baylor.)

Actually, though, UF has been raising its tuition at an alarming rate.
 
Pianola, did you find out anything about the whole residency thing in Texas?

I agree. At least you don't live in Michigan - Wayne State's COA for IS is almost the same as Wisconsin's COA for OOS... that's just sad. Luckily Wisconsin as a state is doing a lot better than Michigan is..

don't worry you will figure it out. Once you have all the info, and you have your priorities lined up, the decision will come to you!


No matter where you go, you will do amazing things. It's really more about what school is going to be lucky enough to have you!

don't worry. once you have all the financial aid info in front of you, and you know your priorities and what is important to you, the decision will come to you!

Yeah, haha, I found out it's a whole big mess.

I would need my parents to cosign a loan on a condo that they don't approve of me buying. I have just barely enough to make a downpayment on a condo if I weren't applying my money towards anything else (e.g. tuition, living expenses).

Mr. Nola helped me find out a lot of info about condos in that area. Looks like there are some pretty decent deals.

I have until August 31st to buy property in order to gain residency for my last 3 years.

Yeah, Baylor OOS is reasonably close to Florida IS. And part of it is because Baylor overestimates the cost of living while Florida probably does some underestimating. But there are, of course, risks involved in buying property, not to mention the cost of upkeep, random taxes, condo fees, yada yada yada.
 
Florida out of state is nearly $56K tuition. I think that's pretty hilarious.
