Drizzt is a baller, I usually only play 1/2 no limit.

There's usually a flurry of activity as people try to double up right out of the gate, then it slows down as people start protecting their stacks.

That makes sense. I'd probably do the same thing, but within reason.

No one wants to get knocked out first hand because they tried to double up with pocket deuces.

Did you win satellite tourneys or did you pay the entry fee?

It depends, I won satellites to get into WSOP, for WPT I qualified online back when PS was pretty active.

As far as the tournament goes, you can sometimes rake a lot of pots by being hyper aggressive, but sometimes it's just all about the cards too. I tend to build a stack by being aggressive then sitting back a bit. I wound up in the money in 3 out of the 4 events. The best was in one of the WSOP (05 I think) when there was a crazy hand where I quadrupled up when I had a slick and flopped a boat and three people went all in ahead of me post-flop... with KK, Ax, and Kx, respectively. It was pretty amusing.

I'll usually play 4/8 no limit or 10/20, 20/40 limit games... sometimes pot limit on the last 2.

Not as crazy as a hand I saw on a cruise a few months ago.

Pre-flop, theres four guys in the hand. Some pretty heavy betting. I fold some trash hand

Guy 1: A-A
Guy 2: 10-10
Guy 3: 8-8
Guy 4: K-Q of hearts...

Flop comes: A-10-8, with the A-10 being of hearts. Three guys flop trips, one guy has the royal flush draw... another round of heavy betting.

Turn is a trash card, but they bet some more, pretty much all pot committed at this point.

River: 8 of hearts.

Our friend with the 8's just got quads, two guys got full houses, and the last guy gets the nut flush... Everyone goes all in.

Guy with the 8s wins about $1800 (almost all the money on the table)

Yeah, I usually try to slow play those and try to hit a set. If the flop comes out A, 8, 2, most people are looking for ace kicker and not really expecting trip 2's.

I would catch parts of that song and I loved it, so I downloaded it and just burned it on a cd (yes, I know, I'm burning CDs and it's 2009). I put it in the car, windows down , blasting it. Then that part came up (never heard it before) and the whole intersection just stared at me.
