going to read more PS'sssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss b4 I head out to play some tennis
 
so what's the best way to tell some of these applicants that their PS is not really written well?

I don't want to be mean at all!
 
Just tell them their PS sucks? 😕 This is the internet after all, no reason to be too overly nice. They're asking you for feedback, might as well tell them why it sucks too.
 
what does it mean for a PS to suck?

badly written? bad motivation? cursing? different language? lyrics to a song?
 
oh I see. like dead grandmothers and dead African babies? or is it that I want to change the world, doctors are the ish and they are the only one helping mf-ers out.
 
my sister is trying to argue her point that we are twins because we look alike... I don't have the heart to tell her you can't be 17 years apart and be twins... and then there's the whole adopted thing 😀
 
I've only reviewed a couple of my close friend's personal statements. I usually end up telling them that they should have someone else review it because I am way too biased. One of the essays was really terribly written and was about going into medicine because she broke up with her boyfriend. While any third person would find it ridiculous, I thought the essay represented her really well (she speaks weirdly and I think actually wants to go in to medicine cuz of that breakup). I just couldn't hate it for being way too honest so I referred her to someone else. That person read it and emailed me like WTF is going on with this essay. I was like yea. That essay got torn apart, kinda deserved it though. I stay away from PS reviews now.
 
yea i thought so. i didn't feel like being pre-med since i already graduated, I kinda wanna detag my status like RR, but I don't really know how.
 
I think the worst PS'es I've read have been people trying to play the "serve the helpless" angle. It's really tricky to do without sounding condescending or snobby. Some of the phrases I see make me just say :wow:

I'm reading this fascinating book called Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell (anyone ever heard of it?) sooooo good!
