lol trust me, I'm not gunning for honors. I've been humbled in undergrad. I'm not going to have one of those "o-m-g i got an 89" freak outs in med school.
 
oh and I finished Outliers 😀 I started it on Friday! That ties my record for finishing a book.

I used to have freak outs in middle school lol. Nothing since.

Other than Harry Potters books, I've only read one book since Middle School.

Hello my 2013 loves.... This summer of mine is turning out to be a crazy one. I am out in the Midwest in chi-town (Swarley-I have an appt with Loyola to go knock some heads together 😉 )....Nana had a quadruple bypass but so far so good 👍. Getting some fake practice as an intern and pulling my third night call :laugh: But hospital wifi and iPod touch FTW for when she's asleep

I caught up on the craziness and got ridiculously excited when I read the couple of posts about road trips down to Austin. I was and again soon will be in the process of trying to find us a place to stay.....basically trying to convince some friends to go out of town that weekend :laugh: I am not liking the idea of y'all in hotels 👎

But if enough of y'all are serious about coming down I would want to look at renting out a lake house (that honestly sort of scares me though 🤣 ) y'all let me know either through here or fb......

And my Cancun trip is officially cancelled 🙁 I'm having a debate with myself on what to do with the $$ I saved....blow it all through the summer or be responisible and put it towards med school stuff....I too need new friends who can go on vacation with me 😡

Outliers was a good book; Gladwell books tend to be at least an interesting read. These are the type of things I like to read about, to be honest.. social phenomena is always something worth reading about

alright got a meeting at 9:30, my LAST one... I really need to run again, I haven't run since last Monday (have only lifted 2x since then) because of plantar fasciitis in my left foot. It's still hurting but I can't stand not running!!

my two weeks of relaxation and rest from lifting is serving me in good stead so far!
 
in the spirit of the Topper cartoons (dilbert character) that Ive seen posted in here before, I thought I'd share my own story of a person with whom I am acquaintanced...

yesterday, I invited a guy I sometimes train with, to go out and join me on my bike ride. The route was gonna be Mt. Veeder and Atlas Peak Rd. It turned out to be 66 miles, with tons of elevation changes and 15 miles of steep climbing. He opted out of joining me this morning, saying that he was feeling sick and went into a big explanation of how he's been sick since the Marathon earlier this year and blah blah blah....

He would rather just "go for distance today instead," he said. I said,"that's okay, some other time then." So I get back and tell him about my ride; that it turned out to be 66 miles with those two mountains. He tells me he went 65 miles...but here's the kicker--he also says that his was probably a more difficult ride than mine!

Why?

Because he bicycled to Calistoga and back, and approximately 35 miles of which was straight into headwind (apparently, I didn't have any headwind when I was out riding...only him???). I find that number kind of odd too...because it's an out-and-back loop, and you can't ride into headwind for longer than half the distance it takes to get to the turn-around point! Besides, that just means the second half of the route would have been really easy as compared to the first.

Anyhow, I didn't want to argue with him about the two huge mountains I climbed and how I more than likely pumped out much greater wattage than him...because I summed up that he is just a lil' kid and his fragile ego would shatter, thereby leaving me to clean up the soppy mess.

As conceited as it sounds, i am writing him off as a jealous hater. I hope he runs out of excuses someday...then he'll be forced to look at himself for what he really is. But hey, whatever helps him sleep at night!

sorry, there was no real point to this post...just had to vent. I do this stuff cuz I enjoy it, and some people just really have a way of taking all the fun out of it.
 
You need to tell the people who made that poll on front page to fix it.
