Nah, it's not a job in-house. It's a teaching job with a school district. If they actually hire her (Note: I wouldn't) she'll give notice and be free to go.

Hello my 2013 loves.... This summer of mine is turning out to be a crazy one. I am out in the Midwest in chi-town (Swarley-I have an appt with Loyola to go knock some heads together 😉 )....Nana had a quadruple bypass but so far so good 👍. Getting some fake practice as an intern and pulling my third night call But hospital wifi and iPod touch FTW for when she's asleep

I caught up on the craziness and got ridiculously excited when I read the couple of posts about road trips down to Austin. I was and again soon will be in the process of trying to find us a place to stay.....basically trying to convince some friends to go out of town that weekend I am not liking the idea of y'all in hotels:

But if enough of y'all are serious about coming down I would want to look at renting out a lake house (that honestly sort of scares me though 🤣 ) y'all let me know either through here or fb......

I certainly hope not! I really don't have a reason, but I've never liked the Knicks. Also, the ball is completely in Cleveland's court. Lebron wants to stay in his home state, but the organization needs to bring him some quality help. (They're heading in the right direction).

While I do find some humor in calling things gay.... I'm pretty sure that in the long run it's not kosher. It's still stigmatizing a word/group.

So, while I may have a stick up my butt... (err... no pun intended?) I'd ask the "that's gay" joking be stopped.

Never said there was, but the irony in finding pictures like that of testosterone-exuding sports gods like Kobe Bryant (and we all know his sordid past with women) is ironic, and IMO funny. I am not one to play into the "that's gay" mentality when I dislike something, and disagree with recent developments on Prop 8, but at the same time I can still find that type of irony funny. It wouldn't matter if it was something "gay" or him being caught with his pants down. I'd still laugh because he's being knocked off his high horse.

I'll go ahead and say you are probably WAY on the safe side of things, but let's look at our schemas here... If it's testosterone filled we don't expect it to be gay... Can't gay guys be butch? (I guess I'm just looking to pick a fight today 😉 )

I think it's very likely it gets overturned... a lot of the reason it passed in the first place was because of the high turnout of african american and hispanic voters for obama... I don't think they're all going to come out and vote when there's not as much at stake.

If you read the rhetoric, it's the same arguments that were used to fight interracial marriages, which today no one even blinks an eye at. 50 years ago not so much though...

I enjoy the discussion.

I'm not precluding gay men from being "macho men," however Kobe Bryant in particular with his history of sexual offenses definitely does not indicate his sexual preference is for men. 😛 I mean, the Village People stereotype exists for a reason and so does the notion that gay men do pay better attention to their health and physique much like an athlete would due to their characterization in TV shows, media outlets, what have you. I also have several gay friends so I'm going from my personal schemas as well.

I think the question should turn to the need to stereotype in the first place. Are they wrong? Yes and no: they don't apply to everyone but are an amalgamation of the ideals believed to be characteristic of one community as perceived by an outsider looking in.
