I agree with Sarah, if the schools are the same for you, then just save the 15K. But if you really feel drawn to one or the other, 15K is not a big deal IMO.

But it's not 15k, it's 60k + interest...so it is a bit of a deal. Obviously only you can choose Pianola!

Ohhhhh. Well Miami is the absolute cheapest school you got into right? So you are saving 30k over the absolute cheapest school you got into. I think 30k is just within the range of loss that I'd find personally acceptable for a place I truly thought I'd like better or would be better for my career interests.

Thanks, scarlet...the decision pretty much tore me apart. So...I'm almost hoping I don't get another waitlist acceptance.

Or better yet, maybe more than 3 hours to make an informed decision (i.e. with financial aid package).

The best thing that could happen right now is for Mr. Nola to get those jobs in Miami.

I just finished catching up to the Full Rides to Medical School thread. I'm starting to feel really self-conscious now. Is this really the underlying thread of thought between URMs and ORMs? Because that's kind of scary for many reasons.

unfortunately quirks it is and always will be. I used to get angry when those types of threads popped up, but now I just simply laugh.

The underlying issue for me; however, is how will they initially perceive my ability to succeed in medical school. I know of what I am capable and I have proven my academic prowess (not trying to sound conceited) time and time again. But I am certain my ability is initially doubted on a regular basis due to the simple fact that I am a URM.

So is it a really bad idea to buy a home during med school? I found a nice condo for about 90K... which is not too bad...plus, if I have a roommate, I can help him pay it off by charging rent:laugh:

I actually got back yesterday morning, but I was so jet-lagged that I promptly passed out for 6 hours 😛 Then I spent the rest of the day unpacking and such.

Vegas was pretty fun, though I ended up losing $450 overall at the casinos. I attribute this to the waitresses and their highly distracting attire 😀
