I went to college there so I know the place well, and it's probably my favorite city in the US. A lot of outdoor activities,esp summer things. Plus the night scene is pretty awesome. Live Music Capital of the World 🙂

Although I would choose Europe over it as well 😳

There is little to nothing between Albany and NYC; I will be happy to make my way all the way down to the city.

Fishkill is pretty damn deserted. I worked in Beacon one summer and the only attraction was this deli down the road that made some monster sandwich. It was like one of those things with a beef patty shoved inside a chicken fillet with french fries sprinkled on top

Summer is going excellent, lot going on. My brother is getting marriend in September, so there is a bunch of planning taking place.

This housing search = frustrating.

I was in Madison last Thursday and Friday, and on each of these days, I find a good place that I liked. One place, someone had already applied for the apartment even before I saw it, and so I was basically screwed from the start. Another place with M2's, I saw the place, talked to the roommate that's moving out, liked the place and shot the guy (he's out of the country now) an email, but he tells me that someone had already just agreed to take the room. I'm like, WTF? Why am I a step late for everything?

On top of this, at midnight last night, I got an email from a M2 about a place that worked well in terms of everything. I express my interest, get some pictures, and decide I want to take the place without going back to Madison and looking at it. Well, within minutes of emailing the guy back, he sends me an email saying that someone just came to look at the room and took it. WTF?!?

Everything else is pretty weak, and the only other alternative I think I have right now isn't the best one because the bedrooms are in the basement (plus I'd have to find a roommate). I don't picture myself living in the basement, at least happily, so I have to wait for the next decent option that comes up. I'm hoping that SDN2013 can get over to a place I found on craigslist and scope it out for me today or tomorrow. But with my luck, it'll be gone by then. 😡

Ok, end rant.

Yeah it's been good so far; I think I have about 40 pages left. This is the last book I had on my list, so I'm looking for some more as well. I have a few books from my dad that are espionage fiction, but for some reason I just can't get into them. I think I'll give it another try on my upcoming flights. I used my flight home from Albany to get into Die Trying by Lee Child; it turned out to be quite entertaining. Intern was very good, perhaps I'll check out Pygmy.

I know the frustration; currently trying to figure it out myself. I'm living with two guys and none of us are in Albany. So we're exclusively going off of craigslist and phone/email. Not fun.

Yeah, housing search sucks. I'm trying to co-ordinate searching with a friend of mine that I want to live with, but the grad campus is with the undergrad campus, and the medical campus is a few miles away, and I think I'm going to have to be the one commuting to school because there's cheaper apartments close to a metro stop closer to her than to me. Sigh.

On top of it all, I'm still vaguely holding out for two wait lists because I'm wary of leaving the East Coast. 😳 My mother keeps complaining about the distance (she doesn't even live in the US! But when she's here, she's in DC) but honestly, I did really like Wash U a lot and I'd love to get to live with my friend (who's a really good friend of my bf too; his friend first). And she cooks! 😀 And she'll be bringing a car! (I can't even drive yet).

Ooh, I'll post my summer reading list when I get home. I just read Match Day by Brian Eule, I think his name is. Good read, though not great (writing could be more captivating). It's written by a guy who was dating a medical student, and it follows her and two other female med students through Match Day and the following year. So particularly a good read for all the ladies here, especially the ones in relationships. 🙂 I bought a copy for my mother and I'm going to make the bf read it someday.

I'm also in the mood to read med student/doctor blogs so if anyone has any recommendations, please let me know. I prefer ones that are more personal than about medicine in general. I actually read the entire archives of The Underwear Drawer. 😱 It was fun. 😀
