Class of 2013!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I am more than ready to begin medical school.

More than ready.

Agreed, less than 3 weeks of vacation for me and I'm already going a little stir-crazy.

Looks like I'm in the right career after all 😛

umm ... hello again!
i have clearly been shirking my SDN duties as of late but felt compelled to come and share some good news I received earlier this week: I got a $40K Dean's scholarship at Penn State!! :horns::horns:
naturally everyone in my family is making up stupid jokes about what I did to get them to give me a scholarship...but I'm taking it all in stride, I just can't get off my high--feel's incredible.
other than that, I am about a week away from driving out to my new home. I will meet up with my doctor roommate in toledo first, then we depart for Penn State together. Getting really excited in these final days!

PS: Vive le Lance.

I talked to a doctor-friend today. He asked how I was doing - I said excited and nervous. He said something profound:

The hardest part of med school is the month before med school. You've signed all these papers, taken out all these loans, and are making up horror stories about what you've gotten yourself into. As soon as you get there and realize everyone's in the same boat and you're just back in a lecture hall you're good to go.

That was refreshing to me.

That's pretty much how I feel right now.

Among the Blue Dogs' concerns is the shape of a new public insurance plan that would compete with private insurers. House leaders envision making payment rates to providers in the plan some 5 percent higher than Medicare payment rates. Blue Dogs say they can't support any link to Medicare rates, which they say pays well below market rates and varies unfairly around the country.

That's ok Lyss, I think we've all neglected our SDN duties a little once the weather turned nice 😛

Hope everything works itself out! :luck::xf:

I find myself reading the WL thread, thrilled that people are still being pulled but thinking i'd personlly be freaking out if I had just found out where I was going.

Yeah, I'm so happy I got in in the fall. It has to be stressful when it goes down to the wire.

It is. My first acceptance was in February, and even waiting till then was bad enough. I can't imagine not have an acceptance right now or still waiting on a school you'd really rather go to.

I need a new phone! The 8 key on mine isn't working any more (first I kill my blackberry, now I break my back up phone. Gah). What's even worse is I was planning on buying a new smart phone later in the year, so now I need to buy a new backup phone to tide me over till then. I think I'll get a similar phone to my current one (motorola l7). So maybe I'll get an l6? They seem to be good durable phones. I can get a new one for $60 or used for $30 to $40. Should I go new or used?
