how's life going for you in the new town raaska? and the pre-mat?

I actually like fort worth !! I like the area my apartment is in and the place is coming together nicely. It'll be nice to come home to at least 🙂

And the pre-mat is just right for me. I suprisely retained info from my undergrad biochem but as a class we are making our own pathway charts. So when school starts we'll have ours already 😀

I do wish I had taken the anatomy course though, people are really "liking" it. They say it's tough bc it's so much but they will be a lot more comfortable during their first practical.

But considering I am at the pool right now instead of class, my regret is not so overwhelming 🙂

OK, a little catching up.

umm ... hello again!
i have clearly been shirking my SDN duties as of late but felt compelled to come and share some good news I received earlier this week: I got a $40K Dean's scholarship at Penn State!!
naturally everyone in my family is making up stupid jokes about what I did to get them to give me a scholarship...but I'm taking it all in stride, I just can't get off my high--feel's incredible.
other than that, I am about a week away from driving out to my new home. I will meet up with my doctor roommate in toledo first, then we depart for Penn State together. Getting really excited in these final days!

I talked to a doctor-friend today. He asked how I was doing - I said excited and nervous. He said something profound:

The hardest part of med school is the month before med school. You've signed all these papers, taken out all these loans, and are making up horror stories about what you've gotten yourself into. As soon as you get there and realize everyone's in the same boat and you're just back in a lecture hall you're good to go.

That was refreshing to me.

Yeah, it really became a chore. I just realized I only have so much free time left, and there's only so much time I can devote to helping out a bunch of neurotic premeds.

Update from my aunt:

uncle is doing well, prosthesis will be in the 29th.
they are going to meet the kids august 3rd-4th in their home state.
the social worker will then bring the kids to the state adoption agency (about 2 hrs from their house) two weeks later.

Looks like i'll be getting baby cousins just about the time of my birthday! what a wonderful present 🙂

but right now I am in Montreal...and I am loving it!!!!!!

went by McGill University today...pretty awesome school with awesome medical school...don't hate on the canadians.

Today I received an e-mail regarding orientation, which begins on Aug. 31st....OMG....I got really when I read that. Then I read gospurs review of past post (which included what one doc told my special lady in red....😍 OMBD).

Lastly, I am in the final stages of deciding whether to go to Austin or to Atlanta. Will decide before I leave Montreal

A mix of excited and nervous to be sure... I think each day it starts to lean a LITTLE more towards the nervous side But I'm excited about moving this Thursday and getting used to my new city 🙂

I had two margaritas last night and was .... well, way beyond loopy. Found out halfway into the second one that my when my friend's sister said the place made them with everclear that she wasn't joking. Then to top it all off, we went out to the stockyards (a VERY honky tonk going out area of Fort Worth) where I realized that I am glad y'all are coming to Austin......less of a culture shock. It even took me about 5 minutes to not feel misplaced with all the wooden buildings, country music, and cowboy hats.
