I'm getting much more excited the more acclimated I become to the new area.
I was dissapointed when I went to 2nd look because the professors kept on going on and on about the technology and not the curriculum itselfhaha isnt it frustrating a little bit? we have a system called ALEX but i really cant do anything there except look at the past years syllabi... but they are changing the curriculum for this fall lol
Hopefully the transition to residency is a bit easier.
what do you think of the area so far? good place to live, eat, drink, party? lol
So I'm finally done with all the preregistration requirements at my school. Now all I have to do is the summer reading, find a new mattress, and buy appliances for next year
Somehow, my direct loan letter contained information that is outdated by close to 5 years. How does something like that even happen?
Little Moore?
I'm going to make nachos.🙂
clinically oriented anat.
Hey, we use that one too! 😀
I ordered Rohen's atlas and the Netter's flashcards as well.😀
So, you want to know a good way to ween yourself off computer dependance? Break your foot. My bag turns out to be amazingly heavy after all day on crutches. Almost got flattened in the middle of the road when some jackass decided the car in front of him was just sort of a speed bump.😡
And I apparently suck at quitting work, 3rd weeks after my "last day" and I'm still working.
How long are you gonna be on crutches, Myuu?
I think I might start having seizures from looking at your avatar too long
Im pretty sure we use Rohen's too...a pretty popular choice.
🙁 we had the same problem but since our tenant moved out two days before we moved in coned didnt discontinue our service.
what's your new place like? hehe i love hearing about peoples' new apartments. its always such an exciting time of discovery 🙂
This morning as I was rushing toward class cutting through the hospital, my shoe went left while my foot went right, sending me into a tumble which was followed by a snap/crackle/pop, redness, swelling, pain, and heat. Being the ever dedicated student, I kept going and sat through class, scheduling an appointment to see a PCP at 2PM.
I go to my appointment at university health services an hour early and they let me right in (rawk)... to see a nephrologist 🙂wtf🙂 who then tells me that she's "not even going to do an x-ray" because "it's probably just a sprain." She gets the nurse to wrap it and send me on my merry way.
I go to a histopath review session and get up again, realizing that my foot hurts way more than it did before and has been increasing in not-painfulness ever since I twisted/"sprained"/debilitated it. So I think "ok, well, she's a doctor...so she probably knows what she's doing...I'll just hobble back, sleep on it, and hope for the best." Also, "what bones are in the kidney?!"
No.
No, no, no, no.
So I'm attempting to return to my apartment through the hospital (very conventiently placed, these hospitals), and am stopped by a doctor and then by a pair of nurses who suggest (insist) that I go check out the emergency room.
So, (thankfully) an elevator ride and a few badly ambled steps later, I arrive in emergency where the nice friendly and very sensible DO says that "it's probably broken" and that I'm (definitely) "going to need an x-ray."
X-ray comes back and it is "clearly fractured."
I get all wrapped up in plaster of paris, instructed on the proper care and keeping of crutches, and wheeled out of the ER, where Case campus security picks me up and drops me off at my building.
Finally.
JUSTICE.
WHAT BONES ARE IN THE FRIGGIN' KIDNEY?!?!?!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
I will prob post my pics when I have free internet in Bay Area. I lost my air card so I do not have wireless right now.

but heres a little spoiler...The weekend was all about this....Haha can't wait to read 👍
Yeah, my landlord people moved out just one day before I moved in and they still turned it off 🙁 I don't think it was really my landlords' fault, it was just bad communication on both our parts really. And it sucks cuz they left me a bunch of perishable goodies in the fridge
My new apartment is really nice 🙂 2 bedroom--I was originally gonna try and find a roommate, but decided I didn't really want to deal with the potential drama as I'm getting used to school, and the deal they cut me was pretty close to what it would've been for a 1 bedroom apartment almost anywhere else in the medical center, so now I have a study and a place for friends to crash if they visit me 🙂--a nice little living room, kitchen w/ washer/dryer, and a balcony that I can't really use because it's unsound... but supposedly that's gonna be fixed. And it's FURNISHED, so that's one less thing I had to take care of. Furthermore, they threw in cable and water... and yet, this is all still for about what I would've paid for a one bedroom, unfurnished apartment almost anywhere else in the medical center (and less than some places!)So yeah, aside from the horrific first night, I'm pretty happy.
Wow. That is the suck 🙁
I forget rice... are we actually friends on fb? I've got all of these people in my "SDN" friends group and I actually don't know who most of them are 😛 I guess I'll have to just check the fb group...
Ouch.
Good to see everyone getting ready and set up for school! My white coat is 8/9 (I'll be 31 and two days old) and orientation starts after. I do feel like a chicken with my head cut off though.....
