Thats my guess..or atleast im hoping haha. Cause apparently (according to the course director)....our tests have been consisting of roughly 1/3 t0 1/2 step 1 type questions and it hasnt seemed important so far.

I am on my way to being drunk tonite! We had our 3rd exam today, and it was rough. I am just vhoping that I passed! We shall see! But what I can tell you is that I AM GETTING DRUNK TONITE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :laugh:

Hi everyone! :hello:
its been a while for me so Ive missed a few pages.. I had my first exam today.. 60 multiple choice - our first block exam covering proteins, protein synthesis, epithelium, connective tissue, er, golgi, secretion, and a couple similar topics....

well.. I passed. thank god for pass/fail ... not haven taken biochem and/or genetics and/or cell bio in college really put me at a disadvantage...

I don't know what you are talking about...I am not getting inebriated for a while...I am studying like a mad man...and during my breaks I am working on my making it rain routine just in case I fail :laugh::laugh::laugh:

But when we come up to NYC this winter....ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! Party at Lyss'

Yeah... generally, except there seems to be too much to memorize for this test... and it is taking me an abnormally long time to get through it... our syllabus for this section is like a textbook and it sucks.🙁
 
Since we are all sharing enzyme names, I thought you guys would like protoporhyrinogen oxidase and (delta)- aminolevulinate dehydrogenase...

I hate you hemoglobin!😡

wow im kinda glad i dont have a separate biochem class.. that sounds so much worse LOL

i decided to start brining my computer to lectures and taking notes that way - saving ink, paper, and trees 🙂 and money of course. I got this shnazzy new computer, gotta use it for something right? lol

wtf??? you know i cant tell if not having to learn all these names is a blessing or a curse..if its not on step 1 then im super excited lol

I highly doubt you'll have to recall any of the extraneous enzyme names some of us are learning..For me at least, our biochem professors are just giddy and love teaching us as many pathways as possible..in as much detail as could possibly be relevant. Im just glad I am a bit of a biochem nerd, or else I would be pretty darn frustrated 😳

Yeah, the upper classmen keep telling us that most of step-I is 2nd year material.

We have one prof who shows the derivation (and goes through it😴) of all the enzyme kinetic equations🙄.

I'm SO FREAKING EXCITED.

And thus goes another day in med school. Back to breast cancer COR prep.
 
WASHINGTON (AP) -- A proposed tax on high-value health insurance policies is sparking widespread opposition from congressional Democrats who fear it would hit middle-class workers like coal miners in West Virginia.

The opposition sprang up Thursday, a day after Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus proposed the tax to pay for his health overhaul bill. The levy would affect insurance policies worth $21,000 for a family. Baucus says those are "Cadillac Plans" enjoyed by a minority of Americans.
But other Democratic senators fear that the tax would reach into middle-class pocketbooks. Labor unions have also reacted with outrage. Sens. John Kerry of Massachusetts and Jay Rockefeller of West Virginia, among others, say they want to limit the tax before signing off on the bill.

I have a really funny story about my school.

About an hour ago the authorities and a haz-mat unit showed up to respond to a suspicious white powder delivered to campus. Naturally there were tons of people on campus studying and whatnot, so when the news got out over cellphones and facebook people started getting nervous. Hazmat went in there and inspected, fully suited. On a SEEMINGLY unrelated note (my fellow osteopathic colleagues might be able to relate), this week we were using cornstarch in our labs to simulate the properties of fascia. Apparently a fresh delivery of cornstarch came in today to restock our supply.....🙄. Hazmat called all clear about 15 minutes ago after discovering what the package was full of :laugh:
