Nope. Plenty of other guys who are better or at least as good. For example, I think Chauncey would get in just because he has more name recognition.

Bingo. It's our PBL-type class day thing. So hour break from noon-one, then probably go till 3 or 3:30.

Still, relatively good. And I AM done at noon tomorrow 🙂
 
I have to disagree with Sammich....I really love Lady Gaga's stuff...even things that I did not think I would. And the girl can sing! Listening to "Speechless" is the fastest way to prove that to yourself lol 🙂
That being said, I like Taylor Swift too, and I don't even like country music (mostly because the songs are about losing your:love, dog, house, tv, truck....etc).

Lady Gaga can sing well, but some of her songs are just so tacky. Real hit or miss for me. Love Paparazzi and Just Dance, but I can do without the rest.

Taylor Swift has a great voice too 🙂

I never understood the love for Taylor Swift. She is not a very good singer.

she is obviously talented and props to her for bringing dance hall music to the mainstream, but she was engineered to sell records and it works.

I kinda wish Lauryn Hill came back from retirement or Amy Winehouse stopped smoking crack.
 
The thing with Taylor Swift that makes her so popular as a country singer is that she's not really country. Pop-country is waaay more marketable to the masses than real country.
 
Blue, the Chronicle is saying that Chauncey will most likely get this spot, but Monta could get in if Roy sits out (which he is doing right now, but I don't think there is any indication that it's long term).

There has been so much sitting out involving all-star games this year in football and basketball.

I know the replacements are thrilled, but it kind of puts an asterisk next to their appearance unless they make the team without being a replacement.

Yeah. I think the games themselves are sort of lame anyway. It's just an honor/award for the peeps who make it. Baseball all-star game is legit.

I know, right? But for those ~4 hours it wasn't working, I was near/on my computer but not on SDN and I felt very disconnected with the world. 🙁 Then I got over it and actually got stuff done in a timely manner for once.

I am usually not a huge fan of pop music because it is so processed and phony. Gaga won me over because, yes, her radio music is processed but.... surprise! She can actually play the piano masterfully and always sings 100% live. Once I saw her youtube videos playing all acoustic, I was in. I've played piano my whole life, and you can tell she was trained from a very young age.

This is why I hate artists like Britney Spears. You're a singer and you don't even sing live. :lame:

PS. Pink had a crazy performance and Blige/Bocelli killed it last night. I love Bocelli thanks to my father. He's usually blasting in the kitchen on Sundays while pasta is being prepared. mmm

I'm a weirdo and liked Biochem a lot. Partly because I had an amazing teacher that was really smart but also put things in simple terms and built your knowledge from the ground up. Also partly because I HATED chemistry in general and it finally felt like chemistry made sense in the grand scheme of things.

Too bad my exam grades looked like this:

i also noticed i have a shiny new 2+ year member thingy . . . so i was scrolling around and i am surprised how many of us have them! what the hell were we even talking about on here 2 years ago?? it seems like so long ago and we are just now applying to school.

i do remember coming on here and posting in the nontrad forum like 3 years ago for advice, when i first decided to pursue this and had NO idea how . . . i had a different username then, though. i cant believe it all worked out

I know what I was doing on SDN when I joined - just looking. I don't think I had my second post for about a year or so.

I looked at SDN a lot that summer and didn't revisit it until the next summer. Seemed like Pre-Allo was a lot more useful back then, but maybe I don't find it as useful anymore because I know a lot of the thread topics already now.

👍 I'm a fan of Ms. Gaga. She can definitely play the piano. I like how she can take on different interpretations of the same song and really be creative with the rhythm and tempo.

I remember reading SDN like my freshman year, and then signing up around 2-3 years ago when I first started hospital volunteering. And then like a year ago I became really active.

Dude same here. I signed up freshman year, forgot about it, then became active like crazy when I started studying for MCAT.
 
If you guys want to eat food that makes you feel REALLY full with very little calories, try buying Chinese cabbage, soaking in salt water to make it slighty salty, then eat some.

It makes you so full, I swear you can't eat anything else. And there's so little calories, it's like the perfect diet food.

wouldn't the saltwater bath wilt the cabbage a bit, thus making you less full than you could have been?
 
i've never really liked the idea of dieting. im an exercise-side guy. love the taste of food too much.
