lol, tough song.

no stringing along. we messed around, and it's obvious she is feelin me a bit. so yea, tough spot to be in. she wants to be good friends, dunno if i can deal with that.

Being a guy on the side is not bad. If she is fine, why not see where it goes?

she is soooo bad, and i hate hanging around bad chicks that will just leave me in the friend zone. i had one terrible experience and i dont do it since.

I was around, but reading about inflammatory bowel disease.

I just wanted you guys to know that due to a confluence of exams, I'm not going to be able to follow this thread effectively for the next few days. As such, I request that you do the following in my absence:

1. Don't say anything to me...
2. Don't say anything funny...
3. Don't say anything remotely interesting...
And most of all,
4. Don't have fun...

...as I won't be here to enjoy it.

I realize that you guys have been doing all of that for my benefit until now, but I'm going to have to ask that you put it on hold for a while.:meanie:

lol

Oh I see... I liked my logic class. It wasn't what I expected at all though when I first signed up for it.

Ouch, 5 hours? That's no fun, especially to make that drive by yourself.

See, to me that doesn't sound so bad. It takes that long to get anywhere in this state.

I feel like 5 hours of driving would just be painful! It takes a good 5-6 hours to get to some parts of this state as well... Depending on where you're coming from/driving to...

the problem with that proof is that if to get a woman you need time and money, shouldn't it be woman = time + money, not woman = time * money?

5 hours can get you pretty far from where i live

as far west as Pittsburgh, as far South as like Va Beach/Lynchburg, as far north as 50 min from Canada, and as far east as Boston, even southern end of Maine

so in terms of med schools, a 5 hour drive could put you amongst

Pitt, Penn State, Penn, Temple, Drexel, Jefferson, EVMS, UVa, VA tech, VCU, Maryland, JHU, GWU, G'town, Howard, UMDNJ-RWJ, UMDNJ-NJMS, NYU, MSSM, Cornell, Columbia, AECOM, NYMC, Albany, Downstate, Stonybrook, UConn, Yale, Brown, UMass, Tufts, BU, Harvard, Dartmouth

so yea like 34 med schools at least in 5 hours-ish

i'm a homewrecker. if i got her, that would've been #3 with a boyfriend that i broke up.
tisk tisk.
whatever man. they make their own choices. i would be careful with how much you trust a girl like that in your own relationship.

ughhhhhh it sucks so bad to work at the Hospital of the school that apparently hates you.

So many medical schools in such a small radius!! Wow...

Nice. Lets see, five hours east of me you have Chicago, within five hours north you have the Twin Cities and Rochester, 5.5 hours southwest is Kansas City. 6.5 hours southeast is St. Louis. Madison is 4 hours northeast.

Tell me if I miss any - Northwestern, UIC, UChicago, Rush, Loyola, Midwestern, Rosalind Franklin, Minnesota, Mayo, UMKC, KCUMB, SLU, WashU, UW-Madison, DMU, and of course UIowa 2.5 hours south. 😀

At least 16, and I'm probably missing some. I don't know all the DO schools around here, just a few that my friends are applying to.

yup, i just calculated. its 10% of our country by area but 26% of all allopathic med schools. seems so over-served. nj is making another med school too

it is a large percentage of the total us population that lives within that radius though

Well, that seems a little unfair, doesn't it? Maybe Georgia should get another medical school or two.

i actually made a mental bet of who was gonna point that population thing out first, but i didnt win

I suppose there are already so many well-established universities in the northeast, and they have the resources to fund medical schools... it'd be tough to be from the mountain west states, Montana or Idaho for example, without a lot of schools in the area at all.

You know, if you were to consider population though, you would need to consider the distance proportionately to get a more accurate depiction of medical schools. So, you would need to know population density and then compare amount of medical schools per population density to see if there is a disproportionate amount of medical schools within that area.

Does that make sense? I'm so tired today that I feel like my thoughts aren't very coherent...

hahaha this reminds me of the groom's dinner before my sister's wedding.. my two grandmas were sitting together drinking wine all night, and later they were drunkski and started complaining about how they were overserved. it was great.

That'd be interesting to look at... Chicago has 7 med schools for a metropolitan population of 9.8 million people. That's 1 med school per 1.4 million people. Iowa has 2 med schools for 3 million people, so 1 med school per 1.5 million people. However, those 9.8 million in Chicago are much closer to their 7 med schools than the average Iowan is to our 2 med schools.

so i guess now it's time for the rejections to start rolling in from the schools you haven't heard from yet . . . just got the news from Iowa and Baylor 🙁 (and also one from albany, but i never finished their secondary, so 😕 oh well)

its not so bad, Baylor I was expecting and I probably wouldnt have moved to Iowa anyway, when I can stay in Chicago.

rejections are lame but i will be glad to have closure! have you guys been getting a lot this week too?

hm. i think my list is similar to brooklyn's (are you in jersey or philly, brook?) NYU, downstate, columbia, cornell, MSSM, einstein, stony brook, upstate, albany, BU, harvard, tufts, UMass, dartmouth, yale, UConn, penn, drexel, jefferson, temple, TCMC, penn state, pitt, umdnj-rwj, umdnj-newark, umd, hopkins... i think that's it. 27!

Somehow my wikipedia wanderings led me to this interesting article:

http://www.insurancejournal.com/news/national/2009/03/25/99012.htm?print=1

http://os.cqpress.com/rankings/CrimeStateRankings_2009.pdf

Top 10 safest states:

New Hampshire (1) Vermont (2) Maine (3) North Dakota (4), South Dakota (5), Montana (6), Wyoming (7), Iowa (8), Rhode Island (9), Connecticut (10)

Ranked least favorably among the states was Nevada (50), followed by Louisiana (49) and South Carolina (48)

...Wyoming.

But mountains = skiing. skiing = the shiz, therefore, mountain states = win. Yay for snow in Steamboat!!

and go team USA!!

the final hammers have been dropping lately. the only holdout i have left is ucla for an interview

I haven't gotten any this week, but I'm expecting them. Really, I have had a total lack of communication from all medical schools for the past 3 weeks. It's so bizarre. I think most schools have forgotten that I even submitted an application there.

yo dw i never saw if you are gunna be out of town for this whole weekend. when you leave for FL?

not yet-there's still a few schools i've heard absolutely nothing from though, so i'm sure i'll get them soon!

hey stein...if you are still here...your lady friend shares my mommy's name. yay 🙂
that is my contribution for the day

enjoy. off to class!

That was HILARIOUS!

Anatomy test, apparently I didn't do as well as I hoped. It's ok though, it's a nice "get your **** together" reminder. Ok, no more senioritis for me. 🙁

I don't mind 5 hour drives at all - it's a good amount of time to get somewhere while thinking, listening to music, and still not going crazy.

For my 5 hour radius I have: UT-Houston, Baylor, LSU-Shreveport, LSU-NO, Tulane, Mississippi, South Alabama.

If you expanded it to 6 or 7 hours it would be more. Houston also depends, sometimes it takes 5 hours, other times it could take 6-7 hours. One time it took me 16 hours. 😱

So the rainy gross weather outside combined with my stomach hurting this morning got the best of me. I called in to work and skipped my classes. I could technically still make it to my last 2, but why try at this point?

Senioritis FTW. I have a feeling there might be more skip days like this. Woot for 4 day weekends!

What in the world happened that made the trip 16 hours?!
