Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I hate starting to run again after taking a long hiatus.... Now my lungs hurt and my throat is on fire. I always start to cough up this thick, white **** when I start again... Kinda sucks.... Anyone else have this problem?

Me, minus the coughing part. That's why I don't run.

you gotta cut out west VA and oklahoma, OHSU is not worth it if you apply early

That's the truth. I had already been on 2 or 3 interviews by the time I even received OHSU's secondary. No way in hell was I filling out that thing so late.

darn, I wanted to change my user title to "talkin' that 'blob blob blob'" in honor of ke$ha but it doesn't fit

Sammich, I'm eating the Chobani right now. It's good.

I also looked at the label, and it is ridiculously good for you too.
👍

I got to the on campus grocery store early today so I managed to get a strawberry one.. But I waited a little to eat it and it wasn't as cold as it should have been, so it was a little ickier than normal.

It has SO much protein. Good for all of our exercise plans 🙂

ohhhhh man i might just have to go see it. fenway's my go-to theater too. why are they playing an old movie though? is it like boondock saints day or something?
I usually go to the Boylston AMC. I think it's nicer. And I have a TON of AMC Gold passes.

AMC randomly had it playing a few months ago but I didn't know about it. I'm not sure why they're doing it tonight, but I'm ok with it 😀

Now I'm gonna be scoping everyone out wondering which one is you.... 😏

How can you call it a franchise when the sequel just came out last year after almost 10 years of stalling? Bad tagline.

Glad you like them!!!! 🙂

Every once in awhile on their website they play a game called spoons - if you get one they send you a case fo' free.

Ok. I MUST stop posting in every thread. I have an exam tomorrow and need to actually study, especially since I'm going to the movie tonight.

(bleargh, are you definitely going?)

I'm considering them my "safety" schools. Wait, why no OHSU? I kinda like what I've read/heard about their MD/PhD program.... Some labs there interest me, too.
OHSU took FOREVER to send out their secondaries this year. I gave up by the time I got it and didn't finish applying.

50-50 depending on other factors

Me too. I think it happens most years, though - maybe they'll be better next year since this was the transition year to the online secondary.

But is that why Brooklyn said to forget it or is there some other reason?????

I think so, that seems to be the only negative.

If you don't care about getting their secondary in late September/early October, then apply to OHSU.

yea this. but their md phd program looks pretty cool. they do not fund you for the interview or its expenses though.

some to consider are

minnesota, colorado, uconn, umass, stonybrook, musc, maryland - they all do some pretty good research

Yeah, I've looked at Stonybrook, Minnesota, and Maryland and like all three programs. Don't know anything about umass or uconn, but I'll look.

I think I am not competitive for colorado....I'll take another look.

Thanks for the advice!

nova and syracuse both fell today. miami also destroyed wake forest, which has to be one of the worst programs ever to utilize its nba talent

Okay everyone, I have a question... So I'm considering possible routes for me if I don't get into medical school this year, and one of these possible routes is to earn a degree in Cell Biology, which would take one year for me to complete. Now, I'm looking at the possible schedule to do that, and I would possibly have to take a Maymester next May. Is that allowed for entrance into medical school? I mean, would it really even matter since I've already completed a degree?

What is a maymester???

yea, but didn't they also recently lose their nih grant / mstp status?

you should really think about MCW. It's a decent sized school, the newest to receive mstp status, everyone was very friendly, great program coordinator (uses TONS of smiley faces), research is perhaps smaller than the big research schools but I think it's the fastest growing research school out there (legit), tons of translational work if you're into that, good clinical training, great peds hospital (if you like peds), not terribly competitive from the med school side of things (this could go either way)... and besides, they let me in! (sorry for all the parenthetical remarks..) 😛

maymester kinda has a ring to it, though.

i think thats ok, but some schools start early so it will limit your choices somewhat. also, it does matter for most schools, as they require satisfactory completion of whatever degree you're working on at the time of application.

its all a moot point tho, since youll get in this year 🙂
