Sammich, we played bananagrams when we got back. I failed miserably again...and again...and again. I realized it's because once I make a word, I don't want to rearrange it to get better words. I'm lazy like that. :d

hahaha I know! I hate having to change a word once I'm proud of it. We have to play some more tomorrow. Maybe I'll catch the earlier train just so we can.

That one resonates with me as well. Sometimes 18 years of being told to pray to an awesome dude in the sky gets flipped on purely by instinct and habit. Certainly doesn't hurt anything, as long as you don't rely on it or expect it to come through for you in some magical way.

Funny how people say pray to God whenever you need him, but then get your own **** done yourself anyway. :laugh: I think we humans are pretty tough on our own. 👍
 
The sunday before finals week my church (very large church) has this thing at the end of mass where graduating students come up and say their hometown, major, and future plans...

After seeing people do this every quarter for four years I'm sort of excited to get to do this.... And both my brothers will be there, kinda AWESHOME!

wow a cardiologist i know just got fired from a university with only a day's notice

she was really nice, really went all the way for her patients and spent tons of times with them and made calls to insurace, other universities and told them about their legal rights and everything. she did her residency and fellowship there and med school at another well known MD school.

they got rid of her because she just spent too much time per patient for what she's getting paid (like 175k) and replaced her with a FMG who tries to get every patient to get an angiogram, which brings in the dough for the hospital

they toook errrrrrrrr jerrrrbs
 
everyone liked her too, people are kinda shocked

but if you don't bring home the bacon....



she has tons of offers (300-500k) from other hospitals, so she'll be fine

kinda sad cuz she has always wanted to work at the institution where she was at

The first thing I saw was this number. That sounds really low for that specialty.
 
I wanna make more than 175k. I'd take 500k a year, buy a 3 million dollar house on a lake w/ a couple jet skis and get my porsche. livin the dream.

Usually (not always, in my opinion) making >500k means not having the time to spend your massive amounts of dough...

But it could help land a trophy wife....

and a trophy mistress....

haha, more often than not, if you're making 500k a year, you have very little time to enjoy those things 😛

I'm gonna have a trophy wife or I won't get married, I've already come to that conclusion.

I'll enjoy knowing that I'm making 500k and I'll enjoy my sick maserati when I retire.

I want a clear trophy wife. I want to invite family over for dinner that she cooked and have them realize the ONLY reason I married her is looks and genetics for my kids.

yea i've thought about it for a while, i did the application process and all

but here's what it comes down to i think:

people think they can do clinicals and research at the same time. that is highly unlikely. so at the end, one of the degrees will most likely be nearly useless, unless you are extremely good

my parents are dual layered but went to clinical academia

Beauty gets you way farther in life than smarts. All she needs is beauty and I hope that the punnet squares lead to my kids being beautiful and dumb or smart and ugly. If they are dumb and ugly they have to suck up to their sibling who is hot (and maybe smart).
 
i think its even harder for women though (academia, i mean)

we actually had a CT surgeon give a talk about the career path and he was asked honestly to give advice to women going into surgery and he just had to come out and be like... um don't plan on having a family

Hmm, same too. In one of my classes last semester, this girl's father got a job offer further west and it was a ridiculous amount, like 400k or something. He didn't take it.
