Nothing in NYC is reasonably priced.

also extremely false. you just have to know where to look.

i hate feeling like i'm always defending NYC on here, because i get that it's a crazy place and i'm not happy here 100% of the time. but you guys need to be a bit less quick to judge without experience.

dw you're on the defensive lately.. remember the best defense is a good offense. some of these people are in baton rouge for crying out loud =)

ya rly.

you can find lots of restaurants here that are committed to serving locally grown food--including the place i'm going tonight. and local bands? yeah, i'm pretty sure NYC has a few...

but reasonably priced? well the chinese places are actually pretty cheap in some places, but a country restaurant might be hard to find

I've been to NYC a ton. and I actually like it, I just wouldn't want to live there.

yay! taxes!

yeah, but i haven't spent much time in LA so i don't want to judge them or poke fun at where they've chosen/been forced to live.

i totally understand that. i've thought about moving myself. but by living here you can learn a lot (especially about how to do things cheaply) that you can't learn by visiting often.

on the whole, it's not... but i live reeeallly comfortably on a very small salary that's not just small for NYC but small for everywhere. i save about 25% of my paycheck every month. so... yeah.

id loooove to live there, the biggest drawback to me is actually transportation. i know ddub likes to walk and stuff but i love driving around, and thats much harder and almost prohibitively expensive there.

and I'm back!

Just drove across the lovely flat state of IL

i've driven a bit in manhattan, and i'm not gonna lie, coming from boston, it didn't seem terrible. the bridges to jersey on the other hand...

what? transportation here is the best ANYWHERE! i will concede that NYC is not for everyone for a million reasons-- price, smaller apartments, general pace of life, whatever-- but you can't diss our subway system! i'm always surprised when i hear that people like driving because i hate it so much; it really stresses me out. that's probably the biggest reason i haven't left NYC and probably never will.

<---- not a NYC fan, but that's because I'm spoiled with Chicago 😛

dude, i hate one way street WITH A PASSION, like, enough to absolve all your sins

That's one of the biggest pluses for me. I wish I could walk everywhere. I do like having my car, but it'd be nice to have the option of using it less.

stop the hate dont discriminate. the rotary is a perfect place to blast past the line of cars that don't know how to deal.
at least Chicago had the courtesy of burning itself to the ground so that roads could be paved in an organized manner.

i think its a lingering side effect from my vicious battles against superior foes on the public transportations in china. i hated having to squeeze with so many ppl in a mad dash for a seat in those hot summer days, must have a lil bit of phobia of buses and subs now

a defenseless city! all the easier for us to sack, rawr

Says the guy from Gainesville... 🙄

I could find many, many people outside of Baton Rouge and Louisiana that would say BR >>> Gainesville. That place sucks, even people from Florida think it sucks.

But every place has the people that love it and people that hate it.

I don't know what I'd do if I didn't have a car. It'd be tragic.

This.

This also.

It was nice being in London for a while and using public transportation that actually worked, but I missed driving. I just would prefer not to have to drive 20 minutes to get anywhere I need to go.

what you talking about, we've got an awesome and huge swamp right outside of the city!

Afternoon people!

I don't know what I'd do if I didn't have a car. It'd be tragic.

I would do anything to dump my car right about now. In between insurance, payments, repairs. yuck yuck yuck. And if I keep it, I will have to budget for it w/ the loans. :barf:

p.s. how did the D-Fence go?

I just recently learned that I can check my work voicemail by clicking the .wav file that pops up in my email. I, too, am easily impressed.
they've made it so easy for me!

i was all prepared to download the mp3, then go hunt it down in my download folder and play it, but nope, all i had to do was click play from the email

i probably saved a good 15 seconds because of that. and what did i use those 15 seconds for? to tell you guys all about it.

have you guys ever tried those personality test things? apparently im of the INTP personality, interesting.

I called my work phone from my cell phone and left myself a voicemail because I couldn't recall the correct file extension.

Edit: And I did it all because you're that awesome, and I just had to share with you.

this one specifically is fun to do but pretty worthless other than the entertainment factor. you basically pick which personality type you want to be because the questions aren't really disguised. not to mention the extreme forced choice is just annoying and also has its psychometric downfalls (sorry for gibberish, the myers-brigg test is just silly from a professional standpoint and it gets my goat).

Yep. I am INTJ. Very close to ENTJ though.

whoa really, the whole reason i found out about this thing was because i stumbled upon an INTJ message board. yes, there's a whole website and an active message board for INTJs!

so that piqued my interest and i decided to find out what type i am and if theres a message board for that. unfortunately the answer is no 🙁

Are you serious?? I may have to take a look at this. What's the website?
