One reason I'm glad to have lunch with ksmi tomorrow is because it will make me get up before 12pm and actually attend class. :laugh:

Meh, I like garlic on my humus. Then again, red pepper's pretty awesome too. I usually get both types and randomly pick one to supplement my curries when I have naan bread for dinner 😀

ok bed time for me; I really need to catch up on sleep (and stock up for the weekend...) but it doesn't seem to be happening 😴
 
Facebook is stupid. I can't do anything without it updating people, sending stuff to friends, or trying to link me some page or whatever.

I knew it sold out to corporate things a long time ago, but now it is just getting insane. I would delete it if it weren't so convenient to keep in touch with people and find out stuff that's going on.

I'm trying to write a letter to Miami asking for more money, the problem is that I don't have a school that costs less, although Case, if things go well, come pretty close and I may end up choosing their despite the slightly higher cost (160k vs. 120k, but diff made up with lower-interest school loans). If I can get Miami to give me some more aid, tho, it'd be an awesome deal. Anybody has any ideas on how I should word the letter?

Dr. Weisman,

First, I would like to thank you again for offering me an acceptance to the University of Miami and a $15k a year scholarship! Right now, I am in the final process of narrowing down my list of schools, but I am facing a bit of a problem. One of my other top choices, Case Western, starts school early and therefore gave me a May 3rd deadline to withdraw from all other schools. They have offered me a $20k a year grant plus a $15k a year school loan, and combined with the fact that my parents are moving closer to the area, it would make the costs of Case and Miami pretty close.

Since I have to make the decision within a few days, I would really like to have at least more information regarding my financial aid packet from Miami, which I am told will not be available for at least another week. I am also having a very tough time deciding, as both schools are excellent institutions that could maximize my potential. Thus, it would be great if Miami could offer me some more financial assistance, as my family is far from being off financially and I may very well have to take out additional loans during medical school to help supporting us.

Maybe you meant "well off"? and I think it should be "to help support us"

meh. i'm one of those sober people that isn't really entertained by drunkenness. i mean, i don't judge anyone for drinking because i drink too. i just don't get drunk. and i think others' drunkenness is best appreciated from a distance.

My mom just sent me an email with a subject "my suggestions for your free time before you move". I was expecting fun ideas, but no, it listed all the doctors appointments I needed to have and getting my passport renewed and all this stuff. Lame.

1. Yea for me I realized I had to do research if I wanted to a PhD. That made me run off to a regular old MD very quickly :meanie:

i guess i'm in that 95% because i thought you used the semicolon in a perfectly legitimate manner lol. two independent but closely related clauses = semicolon time, no?

I actually think that one does work. It's the more fancy vs. fancier that makes the sentence weird. But then, I also don't really know how to use semicolons. I just throw them around for the lulz and to look like I actually know something (I did it on my ethics paper last week👍👍👍).

:laugh: my premed advisor edited out like 30 semicolons from my personal statement (I'm exaggerating...but I do like the semicolon)

I know how to use a semicolon! And by the way, Sentinel, you use a lot of semicolons out of place... 😀
 
Woohoo!! Just called Miami and found out that I am still on the temporary waitlist!! Yay! I guess the second letter was just a fluke. Thanks for encouraging me to give them a call! 🙂

sweeeet. what's the difference b/w the temporary one and the regular one? temp means you should get in?



i just withdrew from 2 schools...now its just mayo v. harvard. going to rochester tomorrow for revisit. let's see what they can do.
