I'm SDNlive-ing. I'm trying to finish up reading a couple chapters for my EMT class.
 
since no one's really talking, i think i am gonna go to bed.
 
Yes, AMCAS finally received my transcript! It took them 10 days since it got there. I was getting worried for a little while there, but I guess I should just learn to chill out since this whole process is going to be like this.

What a coincidence. They got ours on the same day. 🙂
 
Well, I guess why wouldn't they if you also sent your transcipt out on May 13th when spring grades were posted. If you sent it later, then maybe they just like you more. 🙁

they received mine last week but one of my professor changed my grade so i had to resend it and now God knows when they will get it.
 
a lot of threads on MCAT scores lately. I guess this is when results first start coming in huh?

yea. I'm just hustlin. If dwyane can bring a team back in the finals, I can do it with my eyes closed (note: NBA rigged that final and dwyane had more help. He had Shaq, the Glove, Antoine Walker, and the White Chocolate. I have a bunch of guys that flop like pancakes). Whatevs. Keep your eyes open. Witness.

Yeah, I made sure all 3 of my letters were in to the committee and I was officially complete before finals were over and I left for NOLA for the summer. But I also informed my letter writers in December.

He might leave if he can't beat the Magic in this series.

I asked them in March and my last writer told me yesterday that the letter was done, but when I called Basic Sciences today, it wasn't there yet. Urgh. I emailed him again to ask that he tell me when he sends it/delivers it. I really don't want this letter thing to put me all behind and everything. I did email the pre-med advisor and he said that only like 7 people had complete files like a week ago. So maybe everyone else's writers are sucking too. Sigh.

Yeah. That's what I meant. 🙂 Lucky you with your complete file. I'm jealous. But hopefully it won't take too long before our files are reviewed. I'm sure you'll be one of the first people.

That's what I was shooting for when I started - I even emailed the advisor asking him when to turn everything in to be in the first reviewed batch. With my stats and some of the schools I'm applying to, I need all the early help I can get.
I'm not really sure when the committee sends everything out to the schools, though, they never really gave me a good answer. I think I'll just call them when I get secondaries and be like "Bitch, send my stuff now!!! I got a secondary from X school!"

Peace out, homies. I'm off tomorrow!!! So it's AMCAS-finishing time (mostly finalizing PS though), since they have my transcript and it's only a week until submission.
 
Just as an aside, when is the Class of 2015 legally allowed to start a thread? I wasn't around for those SDN Commandments..

Wish I could, but that would be a disaster MCAT-wise, with only 1 month to prepare :laugh:. At least I'm asking diplomatically, unlike the wildfire a few months ago, Orthopedic Residency Class of 2019, First-born's med class of 2040, etc. Now, that was crazy.

I think they're worthless unless you really know the doc.

Alright, I have an advice question now. I've shadowed an ER attending like 5 or 6 times. I got to know him by doing research with his resident on a project that they're both working on during this past semester. On that project, I probably worked 5 hrs per week with the resident, and met with the attending twice. I've gotten to know the resident well, and have him helping me find a job in my home town for next year so I can continue helping out on the research project. Here are the options I'm thinking of:
Option A: Get the attending to write me a letter.
Option B: Get the resident to write me a letter, have him send it to the attending and have the attending add whatever he thinks is relevant and cosign.
Option C: I don't know these guys well enough. Scratch the idea.

EDIT: Man, it's hard work getting top twice in a row.
EDIT 2: Option D: Don't get a letter now. Get one during the application cycle so that I can send it as an application update.

Hmmm... how much time have you spent with these guys total? You can add a new letter writer after you're verified, you know...🙂

I'm gonna say next January. At least, that's when ours wasn't shut down again. You'll survive without one for awhile. I promise. 😀

I don't know the breakdown is probably something like:
Resident - multiple 3-4 hour researching sessions. total of like 40h.
Attending - five separate 3 hour shadowing sessions + ~5h researching.

They're both pretty easy going guys too. Easy to get along with. Great docs.

It probably would be best to add the rec later huh?

Hmm, I'd say wait a little bit to accrue some more time, then add the letter somewhere around late June. How does that sound?
 
Finally after 2-3 months all my LORs were finally uploaded onto interfolio. Anyone have any idea about how long it takes to send to amcas? Also when sending them, i wrote my letter IDs down but i didnt see them on the cover letter....i guess they will just show up on the individual letters? Anyways today Dr mehta and essman from case western are coming to my school! kinda excited as case is one of the OOS schools I wouldnt actually have to bs about at an interview about why i like their school as I actually want to go there 😛.

If I submit my transcript tomorrow, when do you think AMCAS will receive them?

It took 2 days for UCI to send my transcripts to AMCAS. Just send them today. As long as you send them before your grades are submitted to the registrar youre fine.

Don't worry. I'm not even done with my PS yet.
I'm trying to work on it now but I've had soo many people look at it
and they all gave great comments, but they're all just saying different things
and I really just don't know what to do anymore! Ahhhhhhh😱

plus summer classes start today... whoo hoo:d
