I wouldn't worry about the reputation, they're pretty equivalent. Which one did you like more? I've heard that GT is pretty brutal to attend in terms of how they test though...

I liked BU's curric more. But I will admitt I am a little intense and might fit in better with the Georgetown crowd.


EDIT: BU is P/F.

Georgetown versus BUSM is a toughie. I had a weird moment with one person from BU but am not going to judge the other zillion people I met who were awesome based on that. So I am still leaning mostly to BU!!

But Georgetown has a nicer name. And was ranked higher by residency directors. Not sure what that really means.

Be careful what you wish for...

I still am sorta on the fence about this all, I like having grades for one of the preclinical years, but two years of h/hp/p etc would be a nightmare. It'd be a lot of work for something that doesn't matter very much.

Yeah I love the P/F system so we can definately agree about that!!!

hahaha but the reason I like it is because I believe it is better for the USMLE. So you can study what is important and what you like more then what protein X does by your PhD biochemist professor who could give a **** about your USMLE. That is why I like the P/F. That is kinda intense. And the people at Gtown are a little more intense but not P/F. lol whateva that means.

I just think the way they test is ridiculous, 200 question tests? Really???

I mean honestly, I don't think that's really true. You're going to study what you need to for school no matter what system you have, until about January of 2nd year until you're like oh f the boards are in 5 months... You'll just work a little less hard if it's p/f. I mean, you can make med school as intense as you want anywhere. For me, getting all As, doing 20-30 hours of research a week, going to conferences, and studying for boards is all the intense I need! haha

200 question tests? Where at Gtown??

You make a good point about intensity being relative. Then I guess I fit in better with the jerks at Gtown. lol JK. I cant quit put my finger on why the crowd there suits me better but it does. But who cares about that right? I cant pass up the P/F system. Esp if Gtowns curric SUCKS.

Some may make you get fully circumcised but most for most it is ceremonial only. You stand in a tub of water and they make the tiniest little cut.

Ugh, people in the Baylor thread are complaining about debt and they're not realizing that Baylor is actually pretty affordable compared to most OOS schools and some people will end up >300k in debt.

It's like when someone who got into LSU's vet school and only applied there was complaining about how much the app process cost and how much vet school would cost (granted they do make less money, but state vet schools are way cheaper than med schools). I'm just sitting there shaking my head.

I know what you mean. By the time I erase my debt, I will need to start donating to TAF (LSU's athletic foundation) to even think about getting midfield seats in my lifetime.
