idk how many mstp students sign up for it without knowing much about it.

most of the people that i've interviewed with have at least 1 year full time post graduation experience in pretty good labs and they have to interview with 7-9 ppl per interview to make sure they have the right idea about mstp. some of the classmates' publication records are pretty impressive. most people i've met have said they want to do basic science and cant see themselves in clinical med. others say clinical research (these will be not as happy).

i think it comes down to personality in the end

As long as the employment report is good, Greece is still a country, and that guy from Citi is now unemployed, I'd expect a rebound. Then again, everything in this market is ridiculously overpriced right now. It really is time for a legitimate pullback, but I'm not sure it will happen.

$50k could easily turn into $3k per year for life if invested in a wide array of large cap, dividend paying equities. Or enough cash to put a strong down payment on a single family rental property. Or enough to camp in savings until the next big bull market. My point is, don't buy a car.

When our economy crashed and the major stock indices plummeted, that was a gigantic bear market. Our last big bull market and recession was the dot com bust/September 11 attacks era. Smaller bear markets (and good buying opportunities and aren't technically bear markets...but bearish events) happen much more often. Since the indices have been pretty much nothing but up for the last 8 weeks, we should be do for a pullback.

I'm just all about the flag respect and don't appreciate seeing anyone wear/display it inappropriately. It's a symbol, man. That includes displaying it upside down in protest.
