stoney, where did u stay when u interviewed at miami? i stayed at axis in brickell, and i think that area is pretty sweet. i didnt take a look at starbucks(btw, u can save like 5 grand over 4 yrs if u make ur own coffee 😛) but there are some nice local eateries within very short walking distance, and its only a 10 min drive to both the campus and the beach. since we'd be going opppsite of the traffic, getting to school in the morning isnt a problem either, if ur into going to class that is :laugh:

there are some cheaper apts even closer yo campus, but the area is a bit sketchy. might be a prob for u since ur a girl, and iirc u want to live alone too right? its prolly not a prob for me tho, so i might choose there as well. theres also nothing to do around close proximity of that area either, but that shouldnt be too bad since ill be driving.

My bday was awesome... I got to hangout with most of my buddies before I peace out next week for a month in India. Kinda don't wanna go, feel sad about leaving columbus 🙁

Are you still hoping for OSU with me?

When I interviewed there, I stayed with my boyfriend who lives in the area for law school. We probably will look for apartments together, but there's a slight chance that he might not be in Miami in the fall. If that's the case, then I do want to live by myself. Honestly, Brickell sounds like the best option right now, but if I can help it, I want to keep my rent below $700-800 per month.

ya...it's scary! i had my big realization about it a couple months and now kind of accept it. i guess i really have no choice if i wanna go since i never had any options besides expensive private schools😛

i should be getting my fin aid package in the next couple days-not really expecting anything but it'd be nice to at least get a little something.

how's the apt search going? ours isn't going great-we thought we found a place and the lady told us we had it, then we found out she had tons of other apps (charging 70 bucks/app) and she lost ours! definitely not someone we'd want as a landloard. finding a non-super expensive place that isn't dangerous or icky is proving difficult. are you gonna live alone or with roomate(s)?

when do you guys start orientation?

u arent the first one to have a first day there and u certainly wont be even close to the least prepared. but go ahead and worry anyway, theres no relief without worry 😀
 
people in the research world are mad slow as ****, but if you just start off and get to work, you'll be fine

Wow, Crazy. I've found nice places, but since I don't have a roommate yet and am not in the area yet, they're being taken. I wanted to get a roommate but haven't even done that yet.

EDIT: Then again, when you say nice places, I've been mostly looking at places that are further away (Arlington) but still on the metro line.

We start orientation on the 18th of August, so I have a bit of time. I think I'm planning on getting up to DC within the next two weeks and if I can't find a roommate by then, I'll probably just live alone.

oh cool. ya my roommate really wants to live in northwest DC because she like to bike to work when it's nice out instead of taking the metro. we might have to expand the search if we can't find anything but we still have a little time since we don't need the place til mid july.

you guys start a lot later than us! orientation is aug 3 for me.
