anyone that needs a job before med school
Biologists Needed for Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill Cleanup
We presently need biologists to travel to the Gulf of Mexico to work on the oil spill cleanup. As a subconsultant to the Fish and Wildlife Service, we are looking for entry level and experienced personnel with a degree in biology or wildlife biology who are willing to go to the Gulf states to help with the environmental problems due to the oil spill. The job would be a full time temporary position paying $200/day for entry level scientists and $300/day for more experienced staff. The schedule presently is to work 7 days per week for 2 weeks (14 straight days) and have a few days off. The schedule would then repeat this 14 day work period. Each rotation would be for 1 month with the potential to renew for other rotations. This is an immediate need.
We expect this work to go on for several months. We are looking for a minimum of a one month commitment. You would have to take an OSHA online course to become certified. The cost is $200 and is not reimbursable. All travel and room and board expenses will be paid. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of history and help the environment. If you are interested, please send your resume and your schedule, ASAP, for review and approval and you will be contacted if you are qualified.

Wow, that's a really good deal. Too bad I don't need a TV anymore - my roommate bought one and that solved the problem quite nicely.![]()
At least for me, I need a varicella titer and a Hep B titer. The varicella titer is just because I didn't have the vaccine, only the disease. Hep B was required to be titered even though I have documentation of the whole series. It came back inconclusive, so I need to get the round again and then get another titer at the end of it.
I'd get in touch with your school. Mine wasn't super clear that we needed both until I started talking with other students.
It was like half I could give dates and half I couldn't. I got a chicken pox shot yesterday. My arm's still sore. Stupid chicken pox.
The immunization sheet for UVM is ridiculous. I've had to go to my PCP 3 times already to get shots/forms filled out/titers checked and I have two more appointments. Luckily I had titers to Hep B, rubella and mumps... but my varicella and measles didn't show immunity (which is weird bc i had chickenpox). Blah.
ugh, the girl who was gonna be my roommate doesn't think she can afford it and is gonna keep living with her parents🙁 back to square one with looking for a place. maybe someone on the gtown facebook page needs a roomie...
That's lame. It would suck to live alone. And be super expensive, I'm sure.
Hope you find one.
Hope the TB skin test doesn't hurt as much as the last one did. It just seems to get worse every time, soon enough I'm going to test positive.![]()

thanks met. i'd be really lonely living alone (not to mention very poor haha)
there's a couple postings on the facebook page about needing a roommate to fill townhouses, so maybe one of those'll work out.
brook-2400 is pretty much dead on for a 2br. i'm hoping fo something ~1100/month if i live in a house with a few other students.
oh well, if nothing works out i'll just live in my car😛
Not to scare you or anything, but after years of getting TB tests every 6 months, I noticed my skin was freaking out more and more until I actually tested "positive". They gave me a chest XRay and were gonna start me on INH (nasty drug - can't drink for 9 months while you're on it or else your liver pretty much dies). I ended up calling around and talking to some nurses I knew. Apparently people can develop an allergy to something in the tuberculin serum. I made them retest me after I took claritin for a few days before -- came out negative. Sucks but I have to take an antihistamine every time now. 🙁
Sooo yea. If you ever do come out positive, make sure it's not a false positive.

Facebook seems to be a good resource, at least for my school. Sorry about the hassle though. I always hate the process of finding housing, especially new roommates. Never know if they're gonna end up being bat**** crazy. And most can hide the crazy for the first month or so until it's too late and you can't back out anymore.

Living in the good/nice area of philly's gona cost me ~ 850-1100 $ a mo 👎
just learning that I'm going to get cancer b/c I've had an abdominal CT
You'll live 🙂 just don't drink (seriously, don't.)
Yup. Good times. But living w/ roommates makes things cheaper! And less lonely! Arghgeh@!$@H%
I test positive every time, so I am now prepared to get X-rays. Probably because I got BCG vaccinated when I was born. Why not do interferon gamma though since you have to give blood for the physical anyway?

Students are ALWAYS looking for roommates, at least current/upperclass students are all over that on my school's Fb page. Otherwise, you can try looking at places in the outskirts of DC if you don't mind driving.
Iowa is super cheap. I got a nice spacious 1BR all to myself for $595. After living in a box in Chicago for almost two years I was ecstatic with my new place.
yeah i've been on it for almost 3 weeks. no drinking for the entire 9 month course.
i'm bummed that next year i can't really enjoy beerchus--the beer tasting group at columbia

are there medical fraternities or housing?
sentinel-roommate stuff def does suck! i really hope i don't get anyone like my freshmen roommate who threwup on my stuff and needed to be taken care of because she got so wasted all the time. i would hope med students won't be like that though!
Ummm swish it in your mouth, then spit? 😛
Beer tasting though... That's awesome. Someone needs to start that at UCI asap.
Damn, everyone's housing is expensive. I'm looking at ~$500 + utilities.
